Great White Posted October 4, 2015 #1 Posted October 4, 2015 Well, I think I'm going to lay the Venture up and start tearing it down. Frost almost every morning now. It's not cold during the day, but I have a lot of work to accomplish on the V this winter and more time I have the better. I still have the FJ1200 if I feel like riding and that's mostly what I ride locally anyways. Yep, starting to make a lot of sense to lay 'er up....
Great White Posted October 4, 2015 Author #2 Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) And so it begins: http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r618/justonepict/9F4C66D4-E88F-40DC-8178-9C0F7588C42B_zpsqdrklpgi.jpg Quite surprising how easily the entire rear section comes off..... Sylvester Posted October 4, 2015 #3 Posted October 4, 2015 I am confused, probably since I own a RSMV, but why take it apart for the winter. Granted we just ride them twelve months a year, but I would just park it whole.

Beach Bum Posted October 5, 2015 #5 Posted October 5, 2015 What is this winter you speak of and where might I buy some?
Yammer Dan Posted October 5, 2015 #6 Posted October 5, 2015 WAIT!! Dad blame it!!! I ain't had my summer yet!!:bang head: Can I git a Do-Over???
Great White Posted October 5, 2015 Author #7 Posted October 5, 2015 (edited) NopeNope, limit one summer per household per year... Unless you want to fly south that is.... Edited October 5, 2015 by Great White
cowpuc Posted October 5, 2015 #8 Posted October 5, 2015 What is this winter you speak of and where might I buy some? @Flyinfool usually starts taking orders and running fall specials this time of year.. Not sure how far south he ships,,, seems like I remember reading about him shipping as far south as Atlanta last year at a very reasonable rate.. Might wanna give him a shout BUT,, I forewarn you Beachy,, he runs his Wisconsin White Wash business like one of those old Book Club deals,, once ya get em started its HARD to get em to shut it off!!
Great White Posted October 5, 2015 Author #9 Posted October 5, 2015 (edited) Fat butt: http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r618/justonepict/700FB1DB-5854-4A13-9F60-5029F54ED459_zps4i4vb5yz.jpg First dry fit for alignments and fabrication. Geez that's a wide butt! Changes the whole feel/ look of the bike. Gonna take some getting used to..... Not sure on what to do with the chrom on the crash bars. They're quite a bit rusty. Might give it a try and see if it will polish up. If it doesn't come up nice enough, I can always go to my painting it black scheme... Edited October 5, 2015 by Great White
garyS-NJ Posted October 5, 2015 #10 Posted October 5, 2015 Laying a bike up for winter is sad. But it's for work and you ride the fj too.. I don't ever lay mine up for the winter but I lay myself up when there's snow on the ground.. tail looks nice.

garyS-NJ Posted October 5, 2015 #12 Posted October 5, 2015 Tail looks cleaner without the turn signal stalks. Mine are getting swapped out
Great White Posted October 5, 2015 Author #13 Posted October 5, 2015 (edited) All I see is a fat butt! Turn signal stalks dont bother me. On the contrary, they are very visible to other drivers so i really like them! The lights on the bags do look more integrated, but they seem awful low and not very visible. Thats why im adding the "big bike" turn signal lights to the top box. The lower reflector and center reflector on the trunk will also be brake and running lights. I want to be visible and leave no doubt to anyone behind me where I'm going! Edited October 5, 2015 by Great White
