Guest erock1 Posted October 3, 2015 #1 Posted October 3, 2015 Hi Fellas. I just picked up a used Wagner Radiator Cover for my 2003 Venture. Haven't put it on yet, but was just curious as to any tips that you could offer for installation. I only see two "ears" from which it must hang on the backside of the cover. Surely there must be more to it than that. What else holds it in place ?? I may tackle installation early in the week. Seems to be pretty straight-forward, as far as that goes. Do the lower fairings/cowl pieces hold it in place or something ?? Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Eck Posted October 3, 2015 #2 Posted October 3, 2015 If I remember correctly you had to install it using two Ty-Wraps (one on each side). And again, (memory fading here) I think there was also a valid suggestion of placing a foam or rubber strip along the top edge (or all edges??) so that it doesn't rub against the radiator. I installed one on my RSV but that was a few years back and I have slept since then and don't remember how I did it.
etcswjoe Posted October 3, 2015 #4 Posted October 3, 2015 Make sure the screws in the middle are cut short in the back, I had a large object hit mine and the screws went into the radiator.
Guest erock1 Posted October 4, 2015 #5 Posted October 4, 2015 Thank you so much for all the great tips. I will use each one during installation.
jakester Posted October 5, 2015 #6 Posted October 5, 2015 I used a solid copper wire to install mine, easy to work with and it never gave me any trouble. 12 gage I think.
Condor Posted October 8, 2015 #7 Posted October 8, 2015 I just went by the instruction sheet that came with the Wagner grill, and the long zip ties it came with. Worked well. The only thing that might be useful is when tightening the zip ties do them a little at a time to make sure you don't over tighten one side and then end up pulling it too close to the fairing.
Bert2006 Posted October 8, 2015 #8 Posted October 8, 2015 Man you are lucky to have found one of those. I have been looking for 3years now with no luck.
