Freebird Posted September 30, 2015 #53 Posted September 30, 2015 I've only been an active member for a year, and before that another year just reading but I too am seeing noticeably slower loading, especially on the side bars. It seems worse at times. I guess it's no big deal but I got kind of spoiled by how speedy the site was. That is something I'll have to check. That was the next thing I was going to ask, what features are turned on that may cause the issue. I have mine set to not load the sidebars at all so maybe that's an issue. I'll have to turn them on and see what affect it has. The thing is, I've made no changes to the software nor added any new feature for probably a year or more.
Freebird Posted September 30, 2015 #54 Posted September 30, 2015 They are turned on now. I'll leave it on for a couple of days and see if it makes a difference. I personally don't like it on as I like viewing the forum full screen. So far, it has made no difference that I can see. This post submitted almost instantly. I'm editing it now to add this.
Freebird Posted September 30, 2015 #55 Posted September 30, 2015 That's what makes it so hard to track these things. I'm at a hotel now in Somerset, KY and the internet connection here is only fair but the site is still working just fine for me.
videoarizona Posted September 30, 2015 #56 Posted September 30, 2015 Usually never have any issues. My try this evening netting 43 seconds to load this page: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/index.php I waited and it did come up. At bottom left Chrome said it was waiting for venturerider blah, blah... There was some disc activity on my puter during this time frame...intermittent. Nothing stood out unless some ad or cookie was being loaded/interrogated and/or responded to. Interesting.... Good luck, Boss, finding this problem! david
Freebird Posted September 30, 2015 #57 Posted September 30, 2015 waiting for VentureRider blah blah....the actual complete details may or may not help. Exactly what was the blah blah if it happens again. That does bring up another point though. I assumed that it was the actual forum that people are having an issue with. You said that you saw the delay on the home page though. So how many people are talking about http://www.venturerider.org I usually come directly to the forum page and seldom enter from the home page. That being said, I have tried a few times over the past hour to go directly to the home page and again, it loaded fine. I've never waited even 5 seconds, much less 43 seconds.

Exactly 1.7 seconds for that link to load up now Don,,, before I made these changes on my end 43 seconds would not have even scratched the surface - more like 3 minutes after trying several times for the home page.. Only way I could get on at all toward the end of this whole episode was thru clicking on an email link and going directly to a forum thread.. I did notice that all that depended on how many folks were on the site and also whether or not Tippy was sharing our DSL connection on the tablet. Either one of those and I could not get on at all - I was having withdrawals really bad. It all started about a month ago, I began having to refresh Firefox (first a couple times a day, then sometimes 20 times a day) just to get on the site.. It was really strange in that this all only applied to VR - I spoke with my provider about that and they had no explanation.. This thing is faster than fassstttt right now brother,, it flippin ripsss!! In the end I am sure my 190ish gig of pics I had on my hard drive may have somehow had something to do with it (bought a Teribite external - it ROCKS!!), puter probably a few dozen nasty virus things floating around that I ditched when I wiped the hard drive and started from scratch, calling the provider for my DSL was a HUGE part of it - the service guy came out today, moved my new router upstairs so now my connection tach is pegged against the rev limiter.. The 3 year old router I had been using was a known problem according to the service tech. He said this new one communicates way better with them..

Don, I have been going to the main page and directly to the forum, from work, the gym, home, doctors office on my tablet, laptop, desktop, and phone with no loading issues.
Venturous Randy Posted September 30, 2015 #60 Posted September 30, 2015 The thing that I was having a problem was all the "script" stuff. Someone suggested I google "no script" and download a program. I did and it has REALLY helped me. Now, when something new is clicked on, it will ask me in a little box at the bottom if I want to allow it. I check yes and from then on, I am good to go. Sometimes when I check on that box it will also show a list of what is forbidden and it is literally a foot and a half long. Like I said, this has really helped me. Randy
Yammer Dan Posted September 30, 2015 #61 Posted September 30, 2015 I ain't got a clue but mine seems to have cured itself. Still refuses to go to something once in a while, just comes up with white screen but if I hit back button then try again all is well. Think I'll go hammer on a 2nd Gen....
Yammer Dan Posted October 1, 2015 #62 Posted October 1, 2015 Been working for the most part but as soon as I took a Jab at someone about a Hardley this morning it just sat there and looked at me!! Had to back up and try again twice before it would load!!
