My beloved Pontiac Grand Am of 14 years has passed away! It was not a pretty passing, it was very messy. She started to bleed slowly at first, I tried to patch her up :smash2: but to no avail. It got worse, first a little moan then a groan the a blood crude-ling scream and she bleed out and it was over. :sign67: Just like that, one moment we where happily cruising along then she was gone. I suspiciously think my wife was behind this, she has always been jealous of our relationship.:duck:

No sooner had she passed and the wife went out and bought a 2014 Chrysler 200!!! I HATE CHRYSLER'S!!! :headache: How could she!!! I'm going to keep a close eye on my bike's! Who knows!! She might replace them with an HD!!! :yikes:

Sorry to hear that you had to bury the Grand AM. I have a 2000 that my son drives and when it dies I will bring it back as I have a replacement motor and tranny in the shop for that purpose.

14 years is still a young one. My condolences on getting a Chrysler.........

At least I have trained my Erika well enough that she went out and bought another Chevy last week.

Thanks for the condolences everyone. Yes it was a very, very sad turn of events indeed. But at least I still have my 83 GMC 3/4 ton p/u to help me over this rough patch. It is in need of a new steering box but if the wife gets to close to it I'll be digging a six foot hole in the bush for her to retire in!! :smile5: And from what I've read the 200 has a number of problems so we'll see who has the last laugh!! :Avatars_Gee_George:

If memory serves, the Chrysler 200 is really an Italian product. A little Maserati or something like that. One of those brands owned by Fiat. Supposed to be a good car...but the little engine is buzzy...the bigger motor is better. And yes, I've heard they do have some problems...

True I've been working on that car for the last 5 or 6 years. Changed everything from intake gaskets to new struts and brake calipers. I know that car inside out. If I had a car hoist I could probably fix it now too. It was a badly designed car but then again it was fun to drive. And from what I've read about the Chrysler 200, Chrysler didn't want to be left out of the badly engineered auto experience. I guess they are trying to best GM on cars people love to hate. :bang head:

The 3 or so badly designed chryslers I have been exposed to can actually be traced back to the then owning company. The 200 is probably a FIAT (fix it again Tony) The other was the crossfire a Mercedes and some of the sebrings which were Mitsubishi

What engine did you have? Those quad four engines had lots of head gasket issues, didn't they. I used to rent those when I flew home for a weekend and I really enjoyed driving them.

I would not buy a Chrysler for many years, but when I looked for a replacement for my 95 Mark VIII Lincoln, there were not many cars with a V8, rear drive, with independent rear suspension like the Mark to replace it with. Then I saw the leftover 2005 Dodge Magnum with the Hemi V8. Driving it with the power of the Hemi, I came down with a case of gotta have its. Out the door, it cost $22,250 and I had to register it in my home state and pay sales tax. Total about $10 less than $23k. So far it has 101k miles that have been almost trouble free. I love that car! The Magnum is more Mercedes than anything else. It's built on a Mercedes platform with a Mercedes 5 speed auto transmission and rear differential and independent suspension. Same as the 300, Charger, and Challenger. I've read that even the engine is based on an older Mercedes push rod V8.

Good luck with the 200!

4 banger in the 200 and the Grand Am had the V6 with Ram Air. Hit the gas on the Grand Am and she was gone!! Now the 200 has lots of get up and go but it's no jackrabbit!! Right now my biggest complaint with the 200 is getting in and out. I have to lower the seat to its lowest position or I'll hit my head on the lip from the roof. The roof on the Grand Am goes right to the edge of the roof, the 200 has a 4 inch drop down the side of it to the top of the door. So getting in and out is a pain and I'm only 5'8"!! I can't imagine a 6' person getting in and out of the 200 easily!
