Bert2006 Posted September 20, 2015 #1 Posted September 20, 2015 http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41VrxPCkgHL._SY300_.jpg Looking at ordering a Barnett clutch spring conversion kit but were I buy they are showing one with a blue plate instead of the purple one. Is there a difference? Sorry, my stupid tablet will not let me post picture this morning but above is a link to one on Amazon.
Condor Posted September 20, 2015 #2 Posted September 20, 2015 Yep, they make different spring set ups. When converting a MII 1stGen from a disc to a coil spring the pressure plate was purple. I've never messed with one for the 2ndGen, but it may very well be blue... Or.... they got a deal on blue anodizing.. :-) Which brings up another thought. Would an early '83-'85 clutch basket assembly interchange with a newer Mark two disc type clutch basket. If it did, it would be a heck of a lot cheaper picking up a complete MI clutch basket off eBay and swap 'm out. OK they would need tweeking. New springs, discs, etc, but it would be solid....

Bert2006 Posted September 22, 2015 Author #4 Posted September 22, 2015 After looking up the part # on the Barnett website I found that it matched the number from my supplier witch is canadasmotorcycle.ca, so i figure they have the wrong picture on their webpage. . Anyway they have a free shipping and return policy on that so lets hope that they ship the purdy purple one. Can't wait to put it on and be done with slippage.
Flyinfool Posted September 22, 2015 #5 Posted September 22, 2015 Or just call Barnett and ask them, maybe you have a choice of colors. You might have to specify what color from your supplier.
djh3 Posted September 22, 2015 #6 Posted September 22, 2015 Hmm I dunno what the @#$ difference the color makes. Its going to be inside an engine covered in oil and behind a cover. Better question is, if your 2nd gen clutch basket starts screaming, can you put a first gen one in. Nobody seems to complain about that on the 1st gen.
Bert2006 Posted September 22, 2015 Author #7 Posted September 22, 2015 Don't realy care about the color asside from the fact that it looks like the right one for the RSV is purple. As long as it fits and solves the problem I am ok with it......that purple is purdy though.....

I bought one for my RSV from that supplier last year and they did supply the correct one and it was the purple one. They do have a return policy that I have used in the past with no problems just in case.

Unless of course you get some of those cool covers with the window in it so that you can see into the engine with it running. I think @dingy has them on Tweety.
