Kregerdoodle Posted April 5, 2008 #1 Posted April 5, 2008 Is there a better place to purchase brake pads from other then the stealer?? and what about what kind?? any better then others? Do these ever need the rotors turned?? my bike has 10k on it and am starting to hear the brakes a bit, thought I would change them before the riding really kicks off.. Thanks for any help and advise, also, should I change the fluid out also and what do I put in it.... that answer is probably in the M.O.M. but thats to easy and I trust ya`ll`s input more then what is in the book... Thanks, Kreg
flb_78 Posted April 5, 2008 #2 Posted April 5, 2008 lots of good places online to buy the better brake pads, never turn motorcycle rotors. If they are warped, it's time to change em. 75k miles on my 2nd gen and rotors are still straight. http://www.phatperformanceparts.com http://www.cruisercustomizing.com http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com
Kregerdoodle Posted April 5, 2008 Author #3 Posted April 5, 2008 Great thanks alot!! I was not sure about the rotors as I have never heard of any one doing that, but thought I would ask.. Thanks again!!
beyeker Posted April 5, 2008 #4 Posted April 5, 2008 I'm on my 3rd Royal Star Venture and 5th Royal Star. They all had the same front brake sqweel. Pads may be ok, check your manual for info on pad thickness. I put some pads behind the brake pads that stop most of the noise on my 2004. Also two of my Royal Stars had 50000+ miles, never changed a rotor.
