Well, my handlebar is handle bent on the left hand side of my 83 Venture.

IMG_20150914_151725797.jpg It seriously threw me off my game when I took the bike for a quick test ride to hear the engine and feel the gears shift. This needs to be my very first repair on the bike. So I found a replacement bar on Ebay. I'm assuming there is no right or left hand bar.... I'm thinking they are interchangeable. I was about to order this item (web link) when I noticed this bar would not fit a Venture Royal.

Since most of the skin is missing from this bike, how do I know if it is just a plain old Venture... or a Venture Royal?

Sure the handlebar is not just out of adjustment with the other? They adjust at two different points. If you have the on-board air ride it is probally a Royale. That does look bent but you could probally adjust most of it out to match up with the other one til you found one.

IMG_20150913_145843246_HDR.jpgIt's most definitely bent.... this vice-grip custom clutch lever was probably invented the same time the bar was bent and it caved in on itself a bit. I'll look at all of the plastic I have that came with it and see if I can find the word Royale anywhere.

Hey Zag, Did you mean to say that it probably WILL fit? I'd be shocked too if they had different components for handlebars on the two different models. I went to your link and it seems as though the suspension and shiny chrome is the main difference between the two. My Venture definitely does not have a control screen on the right side of the fairing for suspension. Thanks for steering me in the right direction. (Yes... I was going for a pun!)

I would say it is a standard, not a Royal.

In the first pic you posted I do not see a radio or the controls for the radio, these would be present on a Royal.

Royal has the air ride system, controls located in the right faring and compressor located under the trunk, the radio mounted in the left faring with controls on the left handlebar. Any where that you see a "Venture" logo would have the "Venture Royal" logo.

Thanks.... I most definitely have a standard Venture then... I went out in my garage this morning and looked at all the trim... all I saw was the word "Venture"... hmmmmm... .I noticed one hard saddlebag took the worse of a tip-over... oh well.. that is on my winter list of things to do....

All the 1983-1987 First Generation Venture Handlebars (26H-26112-00-00) are the same, irrespective of year, sub-model or right or left. I believe that the 1988-1993 Venture handlebars will also fit, but those years carry a different part number (26H-W2613-00-00).
