Droneh8tr Posted September 14, 2015 #1 Posted September 14, 2015 Is the carb choke rod that goes between the left and right banks of carbs suppose to be held on with 2 clips? It looks like it has grooves for them. Anyone know what size clip their suppose to have if their suppose to have them?
Condor Posted September 14, 2015 #2 Posted September 14, 2015 (edited) Yes... Just looked at a spare set of '83 carbs from the stash and there's a small c clip that fits the ends. I'd take the rod down to your ACE Hardware and find a couple that fit. Looks to be about 1/8".... I gotta add that on this set it looks like someone had drilled a small hole in the right side end and ran a keeper wire thru it. The groove is there, but McGuivered.... It's really hard to get a good look at the ends.... Edited September 14, 2015 by Condor

Condor Posted September 15, 2015 #4 Posted September 15, 2015 On the set I have the wire is mangled. I don't know what was in there originally, but I bet one of those small keepers used to retain the rods in the calipers would work very well. What does your wire look like??
Vonwolf Posted September 16, 2015 #5 Posted September 16, 2015 1/8" e-clips work but are a bit too big you have to crush them a little bit to make them tight. I never cold find the exact right ones some metric size just a touch smaller than 1/8th inch doesn't get me very far
Condor Posted September 16, 2015 #6 Posted September 16, 2015 I don't speak metric when it comes to e-clips, but maybe they are here.... http://www.mcmaster.com/#e-clips/=yynvaj
Flyinfool Posted September 16, 2015 #7 Posted September 16, 2015 The metric size just under 1/8 inch is 3mm. 1/8 inch is 0.125 inches, 3mm is 0.118 inches. http://www.mcmaster.com/#e-clips/=yyoryk

It's only 4 bucks so I don't think haveing extras would kill me

dingy Posted September 17, 2015 #10 Posted September 17, 2015 Aw go on, like you said its only $4... then send me 2 clips you know you want to.. Send the guy 4 of them, they go flying into never never land sometimes when putting on !!! Few pictures of two of them. These are to keep throttle cable from wearing into choke rod, cable rides on nylon spacer. Gary
DragonRider Posted September 18, 2015 #11 Posted September 18, 2015 I will buy some from you, I need a couple and never hurts to have spares.
