videoarizona Posted September 12, 2015 #1 Posted September 12, 2015 I understand about relays and such. My question is basic. Did Yamaha have a wire(s) setup in the wiring harness for passing lamp installation? One would think they would have a plug sitting in the fairing waiting for the dealer to plug in the passing lamps! They did supply the optional kit for the physical lamps themselves and the bar to install them. Or....are we on our own to splice in how we want the lamps to be triggered? Didn't see any mention of any factory connectors in the older posts.... TIA, david
Atoolnut Posted September 12, 2015 #2 Posted September 12, 2015 your are your own re splicing..factory says wire to high beam...but i say wire direct to relay and switch it on when you want..i wired mine to kuryakyn master cylinder 3 switch that runs hid, passing lamp, and daytime leds..just my $.02.
djh3 Posted September 13, 2015 #3 Posted September 13, 2015 OEM suggested wiring is thru low beam. I also like to run mine when I want. So it is energized by the aux plug via a relay.
videoarizona Posted September 13, 2015 Author #4 Posted September 13, 2015 I was thinking of running them all the time as well....with maybe an optional switch to turn them off if I ever have a charging issue. Well.... thanks.
djh3 Posted September 13, 2015 #5 Posted September 13, 2015 When I get back home I can send you some pics of inexspensive switch mount to build.
Condor Posted September 13, 2015 #6 Posted September 13, 2015 On my '99RSV, the dealer installed a po/po button next to the 12vdc plug on the fairing. I wished that they had used a toggle. I find it a PITA trying to figure out if the running lights are on or off while moving. Someday I may install one....
Bert2006 Posted September 13, 2015 #7 Posted September 13, 2015 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?85214-Kuryakin-3-way-switch-install This is a write-up i did on the 3 switch install......hope it is helful!
djh3 Posted September 14, 2015 #8 Posted September 14, 2015 Yup would have to agree the push on off button is a pain to figure if on or off as there is no indicator light. Shoot most times I cant even find the dang button.
