eagleeye Posted September 12, 2015 #6 Posted September 12, 2015 Hoss was at PIP and said that he was going to stop by your place on his 50th anniversary trip out east. He also mentioned that you had stopped by. That was his 87 in the pics. Hope you have a good trip home Chaplain Dusty.
Chaplain Dusty Posted September 14, 2015 #7 Posted September 14, 2015 Hey my brothers. It's been a trip!! Just below Brighton I came into rain which continued all the way through Toledo, Ohio in rush hour traffic. Got as far as Norwalk, Ohio where I bedded down at the Norwalk Inn. Not bad for the money. I was pretty tired. Drove to Pittsburgh, Pa. and visited my son, his wife and my first grandchild, which just turned one year old in May and I had not seen her yet. Before I left, it began raining again. Had to leave in the rain. It took me about an hour to get out of Pittsburg (closed tunnel, 4 double lanes of traffic into two for a detour. It was stop and go a few feet at a time. Real misery on a bike. Drove to Columbus, Ohio and got a motel for the night. It stopped raining when I hit I-70 West. About 50 miles east of Columbus, the speedometer and cruise control stopped working. Evidently the work done on the bike to replace the front fork seals affected the speedometer cable (not tightened properly). No tools, so I taped it up so that it would not get damaged. Been running with the tach to determine speed. Got to Seligman, Mo. where my step-mom lives, which is where I am now. Getting ready (with tools) to install the speedometer cable. Will let you know. Leaving today some time. Will keep you posted. Just to let you know my brother Puc is quite the guy!!! Really enjoyed my visit with after driving across Michigan from Sandusky to N. Muskegon. I appreciated meeting his wife and being able to break bread with them and praying for them. THANK YOU PUC for being you. Also, thanks to Stan and all the others for the detective work on checking out the dealer and the bike before this trip. I will give an update on the dealer at another time. Venture Riders do it again! Chaplain Dusty
cowpuc Posted September 14, 2015 Author #8 Posted September 14, 2015 Indeed, it was GREAT to meet you Chaplain and to get a first hand peek at your new scoot!! Sorry to hear about the rain, sounds like your giving that gorgeous scoot a real good test of its stamina on the road though. Prayers Up and Blessings Down now as you hustle around getting that speedo cable reattached my brother!! Just think, it wont be long and you will be ripping around New Mexico during the winter time while that crazy Flyinfool is dumping the powder on us Northern riders:big-grin-emoticon: Hope ya got some pics of your ride to share with us, I KNOW I do!! Tip says hi and offers a hug as do I, we both send our love! Puc
Chaplain Dusty Posted September 16, 2015 #9 Posted September 16, 2015 Hey my venture rider brothers. Made it back home to Santa Fe, New Mexico today around 2 pm my time. While in Seligman, Missouri at my step-moms house, I borrowed tools and reattached the speedo cable. Took her for a ride and the cruise control worked also. I figured that they were linked. :clap2:About 50 miles east of Oklahoma City on I-40 I ran into hot high winds which really chewed on my gas mileage. The winds stayed with me until I hit the Texas line. Bedded down in Amarillo, Texas. What ever you do, DO NOT stay at the Knights Inn next to the Pilot truck-stop on the east side of Amarillo. :no-no-no::no-no-no: You may live to regret it. It was Soooooo nice to chow down on a shredded chicken burrito with red and green chile when I got back into New Mexico. :cool10:We call that Christmas around these parts. God was gracious throughout the entire trip. Sure, there were weather, traffic, etc. issues, but all in all, one very quick but nice trip. The bike ran real well after my brother Puc synced the carburetors. It only took him about 15-20 minutes if that. It would have taken me half a day. Thumbs up :thumbsup2: to my brothers talents. Oh, THE DEALER. Had to pay shipping even though I picked up the bike. The salesman Andrew said it was for delivery to their shop. I told him it was only 20 miles. After awhile, he told me that I knew more about the bike than he did. Thanks to the venture riders for all of the info. At any rate, had to pay $300.05 on freight. He stated that was just their standard procedure and that he could not deviate from their policy. So, a heads up to anyone doing business with Approval Power Sports in Sandusky, Michigan. :doh:To the brother that said to watch them on the fast one, you were right. On another note, they were kind enough to pick me up at the airport in Detroit and deliver me to Sandusky. I actually was willing to pay for that service, but after the freight charge, my mind had changed. Chaplain Dusty
Chaplain Dusty Posted September 16, 2015 #10 Posted September 16, 2015 Hey Puc, I need that map filled in with Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas added to my New Mexico, or tell me how to do it. I'm the old guy remember. These computer situations are not in my skills book. Chaplain Dusty ps. Hello to Tip and thanks for everything. May our Lord richly bless you.
Flyinfool Posted September 16, 2015 #11 Posted September 16, 2015 Maybe the freight charge was to deliver YOU to the bike. Glad you made it home and had a good trip. Now the fun begins.
BlueSky Posted September 16, 2015 #12 Posted September 16, 2015 Sounds to me like the freight charge is just a way to get more green from the customers like documentation fees. But, you got a great bike that carried you safely on your long trip and brought you back home. You did good, very good!!

cowpuc Posted September 16, 2015 Author #14 Posted September 16, 2015 (edited) Hey Puc, I need that map filled in with Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas added to my New Mexico, or tell me how to do it. I'm the old guy remember. These computer situations are not in my skills book. Chaplain Dusty ps. Hello to Tip and thanks for everything. May our Lord richly bless you. Ok brother, hows this look? If its correct I think you may be able to right click on the picture itself, copy it and paste it into the edit signature box in your profile settings.. Worth a try.. Additional info: Ok, think I got it figured out here, place your cursor over the map, right click, click on "copy image", now scroll up to top of screen - click on "settings", left side of screen - scroll down to "edit signature", you should see your old map - place cursor in box next to old map - right click and select "paste". New map should appear. Move over old map and delete it.. P.S., I noticed you did pretty well with my 3 power reading glasses while you and I were working on your bike in the garage .. I am including small, medium and large map's here. I am wearing those glasses right now - if I remove them the small map is kinda blurry.. I think any of them will work in your signature area - take your pick my brother:innocent-emoticon: http://www.epgsoft.com/VisitedStatesMap/get_us_map.php/VisitedStatesMap.gif?height=100&format=gif&Submit=Create+Map&states=MI.OH.PA.WV.IN.IL.MO.AR.OK.TX.NM http://www.epgsoft.com/VisitedStatesMap/get_us_map.php/VisitedStatesMap.gif?height=175&format=gif&Submit=Create+Map&states=MI.OH.PA.WV.IN.IL.MO.AR.OK.TX.NM http://www.epgsoft.com/VisitedStatesMap/get_us_map.php/VisitedStatesMap.gif?height=250&format=gif&Submit=Create+Map&states=MI.OH.PA.WV.IN.IL.MO.AR.OK.TX.NM Edited September 16, 2015 by cowpuc added some important info to help Dusty with his map!!

cowpuc Posted September 21, 2015 Author #19 Posted September 21, 2015 Brother Puc, Got it!!! It took awhile to delete the old signature, but it finally worked.:sign outstanding:Now, if you could explain how to drop some photos, I'll send some photos of the trip and my first grandbaby!! Chaplain Dusty It's time for an ice cream run. OUTSTANDING Chaplain (on both causes)!! Knowing that big beautiful fancy camera of yours, you probably are gonna have to resize the pics to post em up Dusty.. I been doing so using "Paint" - posted up a thread recently about the how to's of it but I know if you scroll thru the forum titles - somewhere toward the bottom of the forum page selection is an area where @Freebird has a thread that describes other way(s) of getting the job done.. I will say this,, most (if not all) of the struggles I have seen on here having to do with posting pics are resolved totally by getting the pics sized properly (someone correct me if I am wrong here ) After making sure the pic's are sized properly (I try to keep my camera set on "640x480" but have resized and posted pics up to 1000x750), if you are in a thread - click "reply" - click "Advanced" - scroll down to "manage attachments" , screen will open to "browse attachments", click on browse,, find the pic that has been resized that you want to post, Click "done" when ya got all the pics you want to post uploaded.. After you click "done", the file names should appear in your the rough draft of your posting down at the bottom by their prespective file names. When you post it is when the pics appear.. Best way to learn it Dusty is by trial and error,, dont worry if ya mess up - these guys are a forgiving bunch,,,, keep playing with the thang till ya make it work cause we SURE wanna see the pics of that Grand Child of yourn!!!:thumbsup: (and would REALLY love to see the pics of your trip too my brother!!) Any other questions, feel free to ask, call the house,, send a snail mail or just SCREAM PS,, ice cream sounds GOOD!!
Chaplain Dusty Posted September 26, 2015 #20 Posted September 26, 2015 Puc, I've got the photos ready to go in my file management area, but cannot seem to get them from that area to the reply in the thread? Like I said, I am not a computer guru. Anybody out there have an answer? Chaplain Dusty Think I'll go for a ride.

Chaplain Dusty Posted September 26, 2015 #22 Posted September 26, 2015 Now I have to tell you what the photos are. The first was taken in the Pucmeister's garage and that is his wife Tippy and his-self sitting on my scoot. The second photo is of my oldest son in his backyard in Swissvale, Pa next to the scoot. And there I am with my first grandchild 'Frances'. This was the first time I was able to see her in person. She just turned a year old on May 28th. And that is her pushing her own scoot at the botanical garden next to the Univ. of Pittsburg. The fifth photo is of my son 'Dustin', my granddaughter and my son's wife 'Kate'. Then the new bike against Lake Michigan over on Puc's side of Michigan, the bike at a rest area in Oklahoma (it did not need rest, but I did), and finally a welcome sign to New Mexico, The Land of Enchantment or entrapment, you take your pick. It was a welcome sign that I was close to home. Praise God for a very quick, but safe trip. It was truly an ad-Venture!!! Chaplain Dusty
