Looking for a discontinued part.............

What I am looking for are the chrome accent pieces that go on the upper corners of the fairing under the mirrors. These are for a 1st Gen. I have them on my 93 trike and would like to find a decent set for my 87 Royale. I believe they were manufactured by Ventureline.

Trim.jpgYep, worse than hens teeth. More like chicken lips. I've had the ones on my bike try to wander off a couple times. It's not the mounting tape that's the problem. It's the sticky fingers. Ended up going hard core to keep mine.

I talked to a few about making these. I got a set. Its the first place on a 1st Gen that gets skinned up!!:bang head:

Skinned up?

You mean scraped or crashed?

Seems some competent riding would prevent that.

Other than some bright work (ie: farkles), I don't see a need for them....am I missing something?

Well if you have a bike that has a little rash there its a very easy way to cover it up without having to sand, fill, paint............................and cheaper too.

Fair enough. I wouldn't fault a guy if he just wanted it because it was a bit of "shiny" either.

Seems it would be easy peasy to make up out of a piece of stainless. From what I can see, it just looks like one bend and some polishing....

Edit: hold on a tick, I see a curve at the top. Would take a little more forming with the bag and hammers, but still do-able. Might be able to do it with heat and quench, but that's considerably harder. Piece of cake if a guy had a shrinker/stretcher. Or just make up a hammering form if a guy was going to run off a batch.

I suppose there's alway a 20 ton press and forming dies, but that's prob just a little outside of most guys budgets......:p

Yep. I laid my scoot down walking it backwards into a driveway...left side. When I first got it. Dirt road. Big dip and no place to put left foot....went over to far for me to hold. Scratched that very area of the plastic. Some chrome there would be nice to cover that up!! :8::bang head:

If I upset anybody yesterday suck it up Buttercup I'm just warming up!!If any one has a way to make these things I'm sure you could get rid of a few. I put the 1st scratches on mine leaving where my Dad is buried. Wasn't paying much attention to the road and potholes. Hey Slow Roll you looking at this Bro??

Yep, they sure could, I wonder if they could be made with a 3D Printer, if so some one could recoup their money by making some.

It is a type of thermal plastic, and plastic can be chromed now, the ones on my trike are plastic I think, havent really checked them out closely.

Not up on the 3D stuff Lewis. Chrome? And the bends? What is the material that comes out of those things?? Does sound like a idea I just don't know anything about them.

I think maybe you took my comment waaay out of context....

What are the rough dimensions of one of these? Not sure the max size I can print but if it fits I could try it. I would make them out of ABS but I am not familiar with chroming plastic. Most of the work would be in making a 3D rendering. Probably would need an existing sample

I have a couple out in the garage that belong to my grandson. His were also getting a little rusty and he prepped them and had them black powder coated. They do look pretty good. I may try to take a picture of them.

I took some pics of the fairing edge trim when I was refurbishing the '91. The one had come loose (original double sided tape).
