Please can any one tell me why there would be gas runing from the bottom of the motor & front fairing. I had the tank off to change the antifreeze. could the vent line at the top of the tank be causing this to happen? is it also used as a return line?

No, the vent line is only for venting. You shouldn't be getting any gas out of it. Even if you were, it should run out under the bike near the rear shock where the rubber hoses are hanging down. You are SURE the supply line is connected good to the petcock or that you didn't pull the other end loose? I can't remember for sure but I think that the rubber line that connects to the petcock connects to a metal line under the tank. It's been a while since I had mine that far apart but I think that is right.

I think Don is right. But you said the front fairing also. I would guess your talking about one of the lowers. A stuck float may cause that also. Especially if it gets worse right after you turn on the key and let the float bowls fill back up with gas

it only leaks when it is running, but it really does come out fast rite under the radiator.

You've got a stuck float. turn off the fuel at the tank run the carbs out of gas then turn the gas back on and try it. Sometimes letting the needle valves open all the way will flush out any debris that may be stuck in them.

Yup!!! Stuck float. Just had the exact same problem with my 06. gas all over the bottom of the front lower fairing, ran like a puddle till I shut the gas off. Got alot of help from the gang here and had it fixed in a couple of hours. Not a big deal. Hey I figure if I can do it ANYONE can!!

Now you need to run a can of Seafoam thru to try to clean out what ever it is causing it to stick. If the Seafoam don't fix it then your takin it apart to fix it cause that stuff works.

Not to burst your bubble, Last year my 2KMM (like yours) did the same thing

and I tried everything and even ran 7 Full Cans of Seafoam through

those carbs, nothing helped , I guess I should say it did for a while,

But it always seemed to come back for me that is. I am hoping that

yours is all cured. After taking my carbs apart I noticed that I had to

replace the Idle Needle valves and ALL my floats were at Different

Heights, One was so high that it was the one that was causing my

fuel to run out of the overflow vent by the Fairing. So this is what

I had to do do this http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7830

Anyways I hope Just tapping them works out for you. If you run into more

problems with this, feel free to give me a call.

Good Luck,

Jeff

Another thing that I Just notice that your in ND? Open

that fuel take and shine a lite down into that tank.

CHECK FOR RUST.. Just a thought. I Bought my bike

used here in Iowa and I never looked into the tank.

FULL OFF RUST... The guy never had the tank topped

off during the winter months here.. *sigh*.

This is also what I had to do.. So far so good.

BTW, When I got my Bike 3 years ago it Only had

3,400 Miles on it.

I did have the tank topped off for storage this winter, I checked the fuel filter when I changed the antifreeze this spring and that had no rust in it. I also put sea foam in the tank befor storage last fall. I will run some Carb & fuel injector cleaner in it for a couple of tanks, if it last that long :fingers crossed:. Or I will have to pull the carbs and check them out.

Thanks to all who have some suggestions
