Davrail Posted September 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 1, 2015 Looking to change out my spark plugs on a 2012 RSV.. Should I use iridium or just the standards? Thanks!
aharbi Posted September 1, 2015 Share #2 Posted September 1, 2015 For the few dollars difference. The no worry, they last for like 50,000 miles. I've been running mine for years.
SilvrT Posted September 1, 2015 Share #3 Posted September 1, 2015 That's about as debatable as asking which brand of oil to use ... I've ran iridium and really don't see any significant benefit. That said, I've never put 100,000 miles on a single set of plugs either so maybe in the long run they might be better.
Eck Posted September 1, 2015 Share #4 Posted September 1, 2015 Plugs last a long time anymore no matter what type you install. I mean, how many miles do you have on your cage and yet have not changed those plugs? The basic stock plugs have been doing fine for years. I personally would not spend a bunch of money on plugs........ when I could use that money for gas.....! But hey, that is me..
Du-Rron Posted September 1, 2015 Share #5 Posted September 1, 2015 Looking to change out my spark plugs on a 2012 RSV.. Should I use iridium or just the standards? Thanks! My spark plugs looked fine at each 4K service interval. These below have 8K on them. However, since I am made of money... I installed four NGK DPR8EIX-9 spark plugs anyway. Just to feel good. videoarizona Posted September 2, 2015 Share #6 Posted September 2, 2015 Out of curiousity...why are you changing the plugs on a 2012? Are they burnt, broken, gas mileage down the tubes?
Du-Rron Posted September 2, 2015 Share #7 Posted September 2, 2015 Out of curiousity...why are you changing the plugs on a 2012? Are they burnt, broken, gas mileage down the tubes? Mama Yama wants it that way. With the iriduims I won't do it again till at least 30k though.
Freebird Posted September 2, 2015 Share #8 Posted September 2, 2015 If I were going to change them again in 30,000 miles, I wouldn't spend the money for Iridiums. I put Iridiums in my '99 and they were fine but they do nothing other than last longer.
videoarizona Posted September 3, 2015 Share #9 Posted September 3, 2015 Since my Yukon XL has over 150K miles on iridiums, I put same in the RSV. Be curious to see what they look like after a few thousand miles. I'm going to keep them in until they show wear or breakdown for some reason. Will check them though once in a while. But I don't have a factory warrantee to worry about either...
