Wonder if this is the count down clock of which you speak XV?

http://www.yamahamotorsports.com/sport/pages/yamaha-sport-live-unveiling

Hopefully not cause I heard thru the grapevine that that Honda, Harley, Indian and Victory have matching clocks that their stock holders are watching as there is suppose to be some kind of surge in their stock values when their clocks time out.. Rumor has it all has something to do with a whole bunch of faithful Yamaha Venture riders who were planning on jumping off the Yamaha ship if there wasn't a new V-4 Venture introduced when that timer runs out...:big-grin-emoticon:

37 minutes to go

4 minutes,,,, hopefully Mom Yam has something special for us fun loving, faithful, loyal, patient, ever enduring, long waiting, constantly supportive, long distance riding, V-4 riding Venture riders..:fingers-crossed-emo

Might be the last man standing here Mom Yam but just know your 2016 unveiling has been worth the wait!! :fingers-crossed-emo

1700cc V-4 "V-Max" motor.. Detune it if you must (just like before) but please,, dont do another V-Twin - got enough of em.. You guys can do it,, I KNOW YOU CAN!!

Shaft drive!

EFI with a tunable tuner - even if its an add on - please provide one so we can tune it!!

LED lighting.

Engine guarding and saddle bag guarding.

Adjustable bars like on the first gen.

Factory tank and windshield bags.

Fixed Fairing.

Get the same Doctors who advised you on constructing the seat of the 1st Gens (cant remember what you call those guys) to advise you on this one - my kids, wife and I LOVE what they did!! Keep the seat height difference between the rider and passenger no more than 3 inches (2 is great) - raising the passenger higher causes weight imbalance and makes slow speed riding harder.

Ease of removal of the trunk(s) for changing rear tire.

Center stand.

Forward boards with normal foot pegs located rearward so standing up while riding is still possible, shift and brake levers at both locations (no heal toe please).

Hand warmers.

Key removable rear trunk and bags.

Grease zerks on all main pivot points.

High output stator even though it has LED's.

Double check the gear sets in the tranny and make sure they ramp up solidly.

Oversized clutch to insure NO slippage in high gears with xtra weight.

42 millimeter front fork tubes with progressive springs.

Imbed reflective tape (or use reflective paint) in paint lines (like pin striping) so all profiles of bike light up when grazed by car lights.

Add a large foot onto side stand - tired of bending over to pick up stand plate after parking on loose ground.

Explore which tire sizes are the most common and build around those standards so tire choices and finding them are easy.

Remember those long grips you used on the first gens? Use those, I love bending them back onto my knees.

Enclose the motor well to keep ANY objectional heat off both riders BUT - use lots of venting with plenums to act as heaters when needed.

Windshield it so the rear rider remains in the protective air pocket - functional vents in shield and fairing to adjust air movement if needed (hey,, could be asking for servo operated shield but I dont care for more things to go wrong).

6 speed Over drive tranny.

Use GOOD solder, especially with ECU pins. QC the daylights out of it! DONT go cheap and trust the Chinese!!

Dont short us on wire harness leads so wiring is tight - xtra 1/4 inch really helps!!

Make fairing panels easy to remove but not so they fall off.

Supply printable shop manual disc and printed well written owners manual. Supply GOOD factory tire pressure guage.

Chrome is out for me, I LOVE dull stainless (like the pipes on the "New" V-Max),, matter of fact,, build mine with no rustable chrome and all dull stainless!!

Intercom, CB and radio would be nice.. Keep the tape deck.:fingers-crossed-emo

OK Here is my take.

This is 100% purely a WAG / wishful thinking on my part with no basis in fact whatsoever.

When the spy Photos of the air cooled V-twin got out, Yami actually looked at the extreme backlash of their riders and determined that only about a half dozen or so would sell to the loyal riders. SOOoooo Yami either just scrapped it all together and is out of the touring market, or they are listening to us for a change and figuring out how to pull that V-twin out of that frame to stuff in the new V-Max V4.

OK may it is not quite so much WAG and more of just wishful thinking. And then I woke up..........

A friend of mine that works at big #1, that sales Indian motorcycles, told me that they are getting several back that are running hot and some have locked up due to overheating. And I have heard several victory motorcycles knocking down in the motor, maybe due to the same thing.haven't seen much in the news about any problems they are having on these bikes. I still have enough bikes to last me my life, and they're still many out there to buy. Pinwall, has enough parts to keep ours running for years. I'm really not going to sweat what Yamaha does from now on.

You guy are so funny. Actually thinking Yamaha cares about touring class bikes anymore. Man I could cast a line in these forums and snag a whole lotta fish.

Its a flaw in my character Randy:sign67:,,,, you know brother,, for some reason I just cant stop :stickpoke::witch_brew::stickpoke:

I looked at all those bikes, the Kaw 1700 The Victory, the Indian, and the wing. would not go over 24K for a new bike. Honda came in with the 2012 leftover for 20K plus tax out the door and a 3 year + 4 year warranty. ( bonus to buy )

And it's WATER COOLED! so... you've got a +200,000 mile bike!

Don't see why these motorcycle manuf. can't get it thru their thick heads that heat is the enemy...

Because people keep buying all of the hot air cooled bikes. Their thick heads are tied to their thick wallets.

Nah, depends on what you buy.

The FJ1200 in my garage sitting by the Venture is air cooled. 144,000 and still going strong.

Now, air cooled VTwins? Dunno. Never had one, never felt the urge to either.

Well, there was one virago 1100 once that gave me a come hither look and I was sorely tempted. All shiny chrome, gold and deep wine/red colored and looking so naughty.

Tempted, but never tried....

Hmmm. I think it's the opposite. Their thick heads are tied to their wallets!

No thinking, just keep up with Jones's and buy air cooled v Twins.

It's not too hard to keep up with this Jones. I 've about stopped driving or riding very fast but I've still got a couple of V4's!!!!

Yes, but if you are like me...you have the V4's and their huge potential to wipe the clock off of most vtwins! Besides, I bet I'll get a ticket one of these days from taking the 1st Gen out for a spin....and take the ticket in hand with a big grin on my face.
