Looking for opinions on running a radial front and a bias rear. They are matched (Avon Cobras)

I have always ran Dunlop 404 bias on both F & R before. This last set I did not even get 10K out of. So I wanted to try a different brand. This last time I ordered tires I swear I was ordering a WWW bias front and rear. When they arrived. I opened the box and I pull out a black wall bias rear, and a WWW radial front.

By the way 2007 RSV

I have the rear installed, will get to the front this weekend.

I am not a very aggressive rider so I don't know that I'll notice any difference.

Just looking for personal experience from the group.

Thanks

Ken

Some folks will tell you to NEVER mix a bias tire and a radial. The fact is though, Yamaha even sells a bike with one of each. I personally wouldn't be afraid to do it.

That being said, I have to also admit that I have never tried it so can't speak from personal experience.

Dunlop E3's --- Front and rear, They will run about 16 to 20K, depending on how you drive,

My 4th set is sitting in the garage, ready to be installed when the time comes.

Consult Avons web site and e-mail them and ask. I have read some articles that say not to. But they were also written a few years back, sooooo Maybe newres construction allows it with certain tires. As a general statement "its not recommended" The design and construction of the two tires is different and act differently. Cost is a contributing factor to as if I remember right the radials are about 10-15% more and you don't gain any wear from them.

Just put the avon cobras on my 06, not sure about radial/bias construction, but they are the best handling tire to date that I have had on that bike. Rode in the pouring rain up to Ny rally and they were great, wish the windshield worked as well as those tires, but thats another story... They handle like you are on rails, dont know how well they are going to wear but I like em so far!
