slowrollwv Posted August 30, 2015 #2 Posted August 30, 2015 Just thought I would post so @Puc can see it.
Skid Posted August 31, 2015 #4 Posted August 31, 2015 I know you said gulf coast in October, but is there an approximate time frame for the other locations?
slowrollwv Posted August 31, 2015 #5 Posted August 31, 2015 I can't say for the others but the last week of Sept. for WV.
Black Owl Posted August 31, 2015 #6 Posted August 31, 2015 Hey Don, can we start campaigning for our preferred location in WI?
Freebird Posted August 31, 2015 Author #7 Posted August 31, 2015 Everybody can campaign as they wish.
Black Owl Posted August 31, 2015 #8 Posted August 31, 2015 Glad to hear that because I believe that what Orlin in WI has exactly what we need to take us back to our root beginning Nothing fancy. Just the opportunity to get together, see old friends and make new. Centrally located (Well maybe not for the wet coast folks) and at a reasonable cost so that one does not have to auction off their first born to attend. So, now you have my feelings on the WI location.
XV1100SE Posted September 1, 2015 #9 Posted September 1, 2015 For Ontario.... We've discussed two locations (Muskokas - lake country, or Niagara Penninsula) in Ontario : 4-5 day event - Tuesday thru Friday in the middle of August. Gives people weekends on both ends for travel Central place to sleep and gather, hopefully a resort that has cabins and camping No prizes, no raffles (but you will have a t-shirt or local souvenirs) Nothing pre-paid (other than maybe t-shirts). Attend meals as you choose, pay for yourself. Restaurant(s) and ice cream locations There would be a grand meal for a total get-together on the final day of the rally lots of destinations and things to see and do (local attractions) - we'd provide tourist brochures, information. for those that want to go out on their own or small groups, providing a list of attractions and info on how to get there allows people to see what they want to see. For example, if held in the Niagara region, some people will have seen Niagara Falls before and won't want to go on a group ride to see it again. As an alternate, they may want to go to an outlet mall and shop, or go to Niagara on the Lake, Fort Erie, ride along the shores of Lake Erie....some might even want to venture into Toronto. This leaves flexibility Rides (interesting roads, routes) would be mapped on GPS for download for convenience With the exchange rate now at $1 US being worth $1.26 CDN... less expensive for U.S. members to travel in Canada If Yamaha announces a 2016 Venture, we'll see if we can have them bring the bike to the event depending on location and schedules, if the OPP "Golden Helmets" are performing in the area (motorcycle skills competition/rodeo) we'll work that into the plan What we are planning on is flexibility. Central location to gather with camping and cabins at a reasonable price. Group rides for those that want to go on a group ride, gps routes for those that want to ride highlighted roads on their own, list of local attractions so people can pick and choose what they want to see and do. Cost is ala carte so people pay for their own accommodation/meals of their choosing.
XV1100SE Posted September 1, 2015 #10 Posted September 1, 2015 What are the over night temps in WV at the end of Sept? Just wondering as we'd be camping.
XV1100SE Posted September 1, 2015 #11 Posted September 1, 2015 One other comment on the Ontario event...would be possible to schedule it for immediately before the WNY rally (pending discussions with Carl) so people who travel could do both rally's during one trip. Just a thought.
