Tatonka82 Posted August 22, 2015 #1 Posted August 22, 2015 Hi. All the lights work on my 86 VR EXCEPT the headlight. The display does not indicate a burnt out laMp, but chained it anyway. The fuse is ok as well. any ideas or advice? Thanks, Jim
Yammer Dan Posted August 22, 2015 #2 Posted August 22, 2015 Check your starter switch. It could be sticking. It will keep the light from burning.
Flyinfool Posted August 22, 2015 #3 Posted August 22, 2015 And while you are cleaning the starter switch, clean the HI / LO beam switch. My headlight stops working almost every year and I just have to clean the switch. Cleaning the switch is actually easier than changing the bulb.
KIC Posted August 23, 2015 #5 Posted August 23, 2015 My problem was also the switch was dirty. It will not come all the way out unless you pull it out. I just sprayed electrical cleaner in the switch and it has worked ever since. Good luck.
ronnie86 Posted August 23, 2015 #6 Posted August 23, 2015 My 86 did this last year and my problem was a loose wire in the switch.
Tatonka82 Posted August 25, 2015 Author #7 Posted August 25, 2015 Thanks for the input. I will have a look.
rhurd8245 Posted August 28, 2015 #8 Posted August 28, 2015 Just bought a 2000 Venture. The high beam switch is not working. Is this hard to replace? Any tips before I dig in to it? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
bongobobny Posted August 28, 2015 #9 Posted August 28, 2015 Are you sure it is the switch and not the bulb??
rhurd8245 Posted September 2, 2015 #10 Posted September 2, 2015 The switch is definitely bad. No friction when you move it. Very loose. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Flyinfool Posted September 2, 2015 #11 Posted September 2, 2015 Have you taken the switch apart to see what the issue is? It is easy to do.
rhurd8245 Posted September 14, 2015 #12 Posted September 14, 2015 That's my next process. Any suggestions on best site to get parts? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
