Headlight Problem 86 venture Royale

Hi. All the lights work on my 86 VR EXCEPT the headlight. The display does not indicate a burnt out laMp, but chained it anyway. The fuse is ok as well. any ideas or advice?

Check your starter switch. It could be sticking. It will keep the light from burning.

And while you are cleaning the starter switch, clean the HI / LO beam switch. My headlight stops working almost every year and I just have to clean the switch. Cleaning the switch is actually easier than changing the bulb.

My problem was also the switch was dirty. It will not come all the way out unless you pull it out. I just sprayed electrical cleaner in the switch and it has worked ever since. Good luck.

My 86 did this last year and my problem was a loose wire in the switch.

Just bought a 2000 Venture. The high beam switch is not working. Is this hard to replace? Any tips before I dig in to it?

Are you sure it is the switch and not the bulb??

The switch is definitely bad. No friction when you move it. Very loose.

Have you taken the switch apart to see what the issue is? It is easy to do.
