Guest PKSlice Posted January 12, 2007 #1 Posted January 12, 2007 Hi All, I just bought a 2000 Royal Star Millenoium Edition with the factory passing lamps, but I do not see how to turn them on. They do not come on with the high-beam or low-beam. Is there a separate switch? Thanks PK
Freebird Posted January 12, 2007 #2 Posted January 12, 2007 They do come with a switch. Some folks mount them in various places but the most common is on the fairing. Look at the fairing, on the left side, below the handlebars. There is a 12 Volt power receptacle there and the switch is usually installed beside it. If it is the switch that came with the lights, it will be a rubber covered push button type switch.
cruiserfan Posted January 14, 2007 #3 Posted January 14, 2007 I just installed the Yamaha passing lights on my bike and the switch was on the left light housing.
Marcarl Posted January 14, 2007 #4 Posted January 14, 2007 There is also a possiblity that it is integrated with the high beam switch. Turning your high beams off and on with proper timing may light them up.

And on Marilyn's vstar its on the right light! The lights go off with the key as well. She runs em all the time...once she left her key on and it ran the battery down pretty darn quick...we had to boost the bike to get it going.

I still am thinking about wireing the thing to eliminate the switch because I sometimes forget to turn them ON. Kinda defeats the purpose, doncha think?
sarges46 Posted January 15, 2007 #7 Posted January 15, 2007 Yep it would be stylish but not too functional! Marilyn rides behind me alot times and if she forgets then I remind her. But she just leaves it on...its easier to remember to turn the key all the way off than turn that switch on. The place that happened was at a retired co-worker we popped in to visit out in the country. She wouldnt normally leave her key in the bike at all.
