I just got this email and knowing how generous this sitte is I thought I'd pass it along!

Sorry for any inconvenience, but I'm in a terrible situation. We came down here to Philippines for a program, last night on our way back to the hotel room We were robbed at gunpoint, our wallet and other valuables were stolen from us, leaving our passport and lives safe. Our luggage is still in custody of the hotel management pending when we make payment on outstanding bills we owe. I contacted my bank (E-mail) for a wire transfer but it has proven almost Impossible to operate my account from here as they made me understand international transactions take 7 working days to be effective which i can't wait. I need you to help me with a loan of ($1,250) to pay our hotel bills and get my sorry self home. I will reimburse you soon as i get back home. I will appreciate whatever you can assist me with. Let me know if you can be of help.

Thanks

Dale Neseman

Just paypal me any contribution and I'll pass it along to this sorry individual...:rotf::rotf::rotf::rotfl::rotfl:

Everywhere you look people are asking for money for never ending reasons. I have been hit up in the Walmart parking lot twice recently. The first guy was a young guy who had a nice looking girl friend in the car, a clean cut couple. They were from out of state and he was looking for a job while they lived in their car. I gave them a twenty just in case their story had any validity which was more than he was expecting. The last one was a young woman who said she came to see her sister who just had a baby in the hospital and her debit card wouldn't work. She was looking for gas money to get back to Raleigh, about 120 miles away. Her story sounded like BS but I gave her a ten to help. She was asking for $30 and told me one guy said he would give her $30 for a sexual favor. I was tempted to say " What a cheap baxturd he was!" But she probably wouldn't have appreciated the humor.

Working in downtown Vancouver, BC I get approached at least once every day. I think I've heard every story there is, including the one's BlueSky stated ... several times by different people. On top of that, the same one's come around regularly and sometimes have a different story, sometimes in the very same day.

My response is simply: What part of NO don't you understand.

We were in Montreal standing on a street corner when a guy came up and gave us a sad tale and asked for bus fare home. One of the guys said we were broke and wanted to get a bottle and asked him if he could spare any change. The guy went nuts swearing and yelling at us that this corner was his and we were to get lost. He finally calmed down when we explained we were just joking with him.

There is a young girl that regularly hits people up in front of the plant I work at. Here story is always that her car ran out of gas 2 blocks from here and she was just up in Milwaukee (I work in Racine, 15 miles south of Milwaukee) visiting her mother in the hospital. She just needs $20 for gas money to get back there to pick up her purse. She will come right back to give me back my money. In most cars you are talking 1 gallon of gas to make that trip.

The last time I saw her I said "Boy are you stupid, once a month around the end of the month you leave your purse in Milwaukee while visiting your mother in the hospital, AND you obviously have no clue how little they pay here." I have not seen her for the last 6 months.

Do you make a habit of standing on street corners Kerry? Is there something about you we don't know (and maybe don't want to know)? LOL

Maybe it's just the California street scammers, or maybe Tweeks, Tippy and I have that certain street dwellers "look" about us, but either way - not all are such bad people.. This pair of panhandlers watched us pull into the gas station they were practicing their way of life at, took one look at us and offered us some of their mornings takings - ironically asking for cash was never even brought up :big-grin-emoticon:

Glad you got a happy one up there Puc. On my way to Colorado a few years ago I was heading west on 80 and ran across a group of 20 some weary travelers who were just walking and living life to find a place they could call their own. I sat out and talked with them for a little while and they were a really nice group. One of the gas stations at that exit wouldn't serve them saying they were bad people and bad for business.

I just felt so bad for them

Since everyone is in such a giving mood I thought I might share my story.

I just returned from a 7000 mile journey riding around the country and could use your help recovering some of my travel expenses. Even with the economy improving with fuel and overall costs at the lowest in years, my bank account took a hit this past month.

As I prefer staying in motels that have hot running water and comfy beds and, eating meals prepared by others, my journey across this beautiful country cost me more than had I stayed in campgrounds, eating sandwiches, trail mix, and gas station potato chip handouts :)

You will not see me standing at a corner with a sign asking for assistance since I don't like standing in the heat, nor will I approach you at a gas station asking for "gas money" or food to help my family as they are already a bit overweight and could use the time off from eating regular meals anyway.

All I ask is if you have lots and lots of extra cash, the Donald Trump kind of cash, lying around and just have no idea what to do with it please send me a PM note and I will provide my bank account and routing number, (PayPal also accepted) so you don't even have to leave the security of your lovely homes.

Thank you, Ride Safe, and May The Force Be With You.

Hey Rick. Even better. The airline I was working for sent me to Montreal on a three week long agents course. It was a snap but on the last day when we were to write the exams they came in and announced the course was canceled, they had changed it to a two week course so we all had to come back. Good deal, 5 weeks all expenses paid in Montreal during expo, met a nice girl from New York there. A British airline had rooms reserved right across the hall from my room for their stewardesses for their three day layover. Every three days a new batch moved in. Don't remember much of the course but I scored 98% ( Did pretty good on the course too). I do remember walking down the middle of the street at some awful hour of the early morning with two other guys singing the Jets/Sharks song from West side story.
