kevin-vic-b.c. Posted August 19, 2015 #1 Posted August 19, 2015 I hope some others out there can help with load pressures. I volunteered to be Moto support for a local cycling event covering our region with our local Tour de France participant Ryder Hesjedal. I know first mistake was to volunteer but that is what I do as a hobby. SO....... I ended up because I have the "Big Bike" taking a photographer with me..... Ok I say, had many passengers along the way. Well the photographer is 270 pounds.... add a couple for his gear, so what. Tire and suspension pressures ....... Max them all ???? I am 205 myself. I can never remember what shock and fork pressure max is. And I know.... stop volunteering Thanks all
Condor Posted August 19, 2015 #2 Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) The fronts are 7psi, and the rear is 45psi. I fudge to 10 and 50.... Edited August 19, 2015 by Condor
etcswjoe Posted August 19, 2015 #3 Posted August 19, 2015 On the rev the fronts are 7psi, and the rear is 45psi. I fudge to 10 and 50.... OOPS, I thought the rear was 54 no wonder I was bouncing so much.
Condor Posted August 19, 2015 #4 Posted August 19, 2015 I often wonder about the suspension pressures. On a 1stGen's the max's are 17 in the front and 72 in the rear, and the rear never seems to fail....
XV1100SE Posted August 19, 2015 #5 Posted August 19, 2015 2nd Gen max rear air pressure is 57psi (per manual). According to the manual there should be no weight on the motorcycle when checking and adjusting air pressure (including when doing the forks). Not sure if this means the bike should be jacked up with tires off the ground or just the normal weight of the bike only.
Condor Posted August 19, 2015 #6 Posted August 19, 2015 I stand corrected. I used Clymers 'cause I can't find my OEM. Clymers sez 0-58psi, and that's close enough. Looks like it's drag out the compressor time... :-)
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted August 26, 2015 Author #7 Posted August 26, 2015 Well I set it all up hard. Took the bike to the event and found know body had been able to come up with a helmet that would fit this guys head. So I was left to patrol the 145 kilometers of the cycling course with no passenger. Rough bumpy country roads that I never knew existed and my suspention was solid. It was a good ride..... 5 hours..... some of the hills are at walking pace some are at 80 kmh (50mph). It was a blast but a long day.
Flyinfool Posted August 26, 2015 #8 Posted August 26, 2015 Sounds like fun. How hard is it to adjust the suspension on a 2nd gen?
SilvrT Posted August 26, 2015 #9 Posted August 26, 2015 Sounds like fun. How hard is it to adjust the suspension on a 2nd gen? piece of cake as long as you have a 0-60 hand pump (like a Progressive)
SilvrT Posted August 26, 2015 #10 Posted August 26, 2015 I am 205 myself. That's what happens when you eat someone else's pie as well as your own...
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted August 26, 2015 Author #11 Posted August 26, 2015 Sounds like fun. How hard is it to adjust the suspension on a 2nd gen? It is easy enough if you have the pump with you and the 5 minutes to do it. 1700 bicycles behind me at the start line.... no time or place to start the job.
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted August 26, 2015 Author #12 Posted August 26, 2015 That's what happens when you eat someone else's pie as well as your own... I run half marathons so I CAN eat all the pie I want
Flyinfool Posted August 27, 2015 #13 Posted August 27, 2015 I run half marathons so I CAN eat all the pie I want I'm a couch potato so I CAN eat all the pie I want.......
