captdrac Posted August 14, 2015 #1 Posted August 14, 2015 Good evening guy/gals. I had a little miss fortune on the way back from Sturgis. I was at a severe slant (high to low, left to right) on a roadside and when a semi passed, the wind blast tipped over my RSV & my helmet was in a perfect position for the lower part of the tank to make contact, leaving a nice dent on the lower rt side of it. Not much paint was damaged, but the dent is a nice size. Does anyone know of a cycle tank body/repair shop in S.E. Wisconsin?
djh3 Posted August 14, 2015 #2 Posted August 14, 2015 Look up some "paintless dent repair" guys. When I lived in Oklahoma this option was just starting out. They use some kind of steel rod with special tips and roll the dents out without bondo or paint.
Flyinfool Posted August 14, 2015 #3 Posted August 14, 2015 :sign yeah that: There are a couple of the paintless dent repair shops in the Milwaukee area. My brother had a dent removed from his car door, it took about a half hour and you could not tell anything ever happened. But call them first, They may have issues with working on a gas tank due to the fumes. They may have a special cleaning procedure to get all of the fumes out of the tank before working on it. The process of rubbing steel tools on a steel tank does have a good potential to make a spark.
captdrac Posted August 14, 2015 Author #4 Posted August 14, 2015 Yep. Not a good thing when sparks fly. Thanks for the info.
captdrac Posted August 14, 2015 Author #5 Posted August 14, 2015 Thanks. I'm in the yellow pages now.
Eck Posted August 14, 2015 #6 Posted August 14, 2015 This place does exactly what you are looking for. Here is "part of" their advertisement. [h=2]Dents on Motorcycles[/h]Being a motorcycle enthusiast I enjoy removing dents from fenders, and yes most gas tanks. The heavier gauged metal used on motorcycles requires different tools, equipment, and bit more patience. Winter is a great time to have repairs made on your bike. Tanks (completely drained of fuel) and fenders need to be removed and be generally clean, then delivered or shipped to me. Please email or call me for instructions and requirements about this quality service. Just snap some pictures to best show the damage and email them to me at popmydent@gmail.com or text them to 414-520-8450. I'll get the estimate back to you by the next business day. 146 S 92nd St, Milwaukee, WI 53214 (414) 520-8450 http://www.popmydent.com/
