Ky. Rider Posted August 14, 2015 #1 Posted August 14, 2015 Each week, weather and schedules permitting, we put together a group ride from our local area. Our primary day is Thursday with Friday as an alternant. Since a lot of any ride is about eating we do a breakfast ride in hot weather and a lunch ride in cooler weather. I have a group e-mail list that goes out with ride info. early each week. In our group we have Harley, Can Am, Honda, Yamaha, Victory, BMW, Kawasaki and any other may pop in. There is usually 6 - 8 bikes, sometimes more. Some are retired, some semi-retired and some ride on a day off. The age range is 40's to late 70's. It is something we look forward to each week with a good bunch of guys with good, clean fellowship. We have a ride captain that puts together the routes so we don't stand in the parking lot trying to decide where we are going. Anyone else do something similar? I recommend it. PS got the "brain" back in the RSV and it is good to go. Bill
MJ44 Posted August 14, 2015 #2 Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) On Fridays in the summer the Wicked Witches of the North try for a ride. Yep, all women on our brooms. There are three of us, all in our 50's. Two HD and me with the Venture hack. Sometimes I have a passenger. Tomorrow we add another witch to the group. We take turns being road captain, too. I teach and have the summer off, the other two work in administration at the same school district on the office is closed Fridays during the summer. Great for riding to avoid weekend traffic. We ride with our guys, too..........but Fridays are reserved for the Witches! This was last summer in Punxsutawney - we visited Phil Headed to Sugar Creek, OH tomorrow, about 300 miles round trip. Guaranteed good time with lots of laughs Edited August 14, 2015 by MJ44
Great White Posted August 14, 2015 #3 Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) Used to do it, very rarely now. I don't ride fast enough on the V for my sportbike buddies and i ride too fast for my touring buddies. Swap to the FJ and I pretty much ride too fast for all of them. Mostly because I pick where I think it's safe to step it up and where to back it down as i see fit or where injust feel like it. It ends up being a big yoyo and no fun at all. I will ride in a group if it fits, but no one rides my exact pace and it changes when I see fit. Or I see an interesting side road, or a coffee shop, or something shiny...... So, I'm mostly just a lone wolf these days. http://www.thecheapplace.com/image/cache/data1/data/Product-images/patches/2015/04/05/2/PL4626-green-lone-wolf-no-clubs-no-rules-just-ride-large-biker-back-patch-pl4626-320x200.jpg Edited August 15, 2015 by Great White
