chippego Posted August 11, 2015 #1 Posted August 11, 2015 Hello. I have a 09 RSV with a trike kit. I recently noticed than when going down the road my handlebars seem to be pointed a bit toward the shoulder of the road. Kind of forgot about it and now one side of the tire is scuffing. Haven't hit anything with it..except maybe a pothole. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
alwrmcusn Posted August 12, 2015 #2 Posted August 12, 2015 I'm rather surprised no one has responded to this. I have an '09 RSV Hannigan. I am NOT a mechanic but I would take that to a dealer/repair for immediate check.
Motorcycle Mike Posted August 12, 2015 #3 Posted August 12, 2015 I would get in touch with Hannigan. Also loads of trike info at http://www.triketalk.com/forum/forum.php?. Maybe someone will have knowledge of your problem. You can contact Hannigan directley from the site too.
KSRIDER10 Posted August 12, 2015 #4 Posted August 12, 2015 A large/deep enough pot-hole could tweak your front wheel in the forks enough to misalign your handlebars slightly. If I were experiencing your issue I would line up the front wheel parallel with the rear ones and secure it so that it couldn't move. Then loosen the triple tree pinch bolts on the forks slightly (not until they are sloppy)and twist the handlebars until they align with the front wheel again. Re-torque the pinch bolts. If the fork tubes are not out of true that should help with your wear problem. Hope this helps!
chippego Posted August 13, 2015 Author #6 Posted August 13, 2015 Thanks for the comments. The bike has a Tri-wing kit that was dealer installed 4 years ago. This is the first issue with the trike..love it. Thanks
Motorcycle Mike Posted August 13, 2015 #7 Posted August 13, 2015 Well, forget my suggestion to call Hannigan then. I stand by my suggestion to post your problem over on Trike Talk tho.
Cougar Posted August 16, 2015 #8 Posted August 16, 2015 Do you have crowned roads? If so try 26 in the left rear and 28 in the right rear. This is just a starting point adjust as you see fit. Good Luck! Jeff
