y2krider Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I set a new single day riding distance record for me this week, 694 or 726 miles. The odometer showed the 726 but as we all know that ain't right. Google says 694. I had a training class just outside Cleveland, OH so I decided to take the Venture. Left home at 6:15 last Sunday and arrived at hotel at 7:25 that evening. Didn't get to ride much while I was there but did shoot up I90 into PA the only evening I had any free time just to say I have been there. Split the ride home and rode about half yesterday evening and then finished this morning. Around 1525 miles total for the week. Saw a few ventures on the road but don't know if anyone from here. If you saw a Millennium Venture with a dude with blonde fur helmet, it was me.... (hope I waved ) Glad the Venture is such a comfortable bike.
djh3 Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Thats a nice days ride. I dont like to do them all the time. But off and on I kind of like it. I made like 775 in 12.5 a couple years ago. I was tired, but not wore out. Does that make sense? It was fun, had a good friend to ride the first 200 or so miles with. Fill ur up ride, repeat. Hope you a good ride both ways.
midnightventure Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 The odometer is much closer than the speedometer.
billmac Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Google don't include the miles when you get off the route to get gas, in parking lots to get food or take a break. missing a turn and have to drive 5 miles to turn around. they only calculate from point A to point B.
djh3 Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 I have sync'd up my GPS and ODO on trips, and have to agree the ODO is pretty dang close. I think less than 3-5 miles difference on a long trip of say 6-700 miles. been awhile now so not exactly sure but I dont recall it being 10-15 miles for sure.
