Double D Posted April 3, 2008 #1 Posted April 3, 2008 Now that I have my Joe Rocket Phoenix 4.0 jacket, I need to get a pair of hot weather pants. Any body have any suggestions? By the way--Why do they call them a "PAIR" of pants and you only get one???

By the way--Why do they call them a "PAIR" of pants and you only get one??? Pants comes from the word pantaloon. At one times the leggings were made separately like your chaps. Eventually they were sewn together, but the phrase pair remained. Thats my story anyway.
Blackjack Posted April 3, 2008 #3 Posted April 3, 2008 I bought a pair of these not too long ago and am very happy with them: http://www.newenough.com/closeouts/mesh_jackets_and_pants/river_road/mojave_mesh_motorcycle_pants.html Terry
rod Posted April 3, 2008 #4 Posted April 3, 2008 I am a so cal guy. I wear my chaps all the time. for winter I wear thermals, in summer in the desert I soak my jeans under my chaps. People ask me why I don't take my chaps off I tell them it is cooler with them on. Try it if you are in a hot dry climate hwy pegs and wet pants under your chaps will keep you cool. Rod

Blackjack Posted April 4, 2008 #7 Posted April 4, 2008 Hey Blackjack---Have you tried these in Hot Weather yet? It gets fairly WARM and muggy in Tennessee in the summer. David, It gets really hot and muggy here outside of Atlanta. I bought a mesh jacket last summer (also a closeout at New Enough) and was thrilled with the difference that made over riding with a leather jacket. That led me to the conclusion that I should look into getting a pair of mesh pants for this summer! I only came across this deal on the pants during the winter, so, no, I have not yet been able to try them in Hot Weather. I have worn them in the cold weather this year (with the liner intact) and have greatly enjoyed the added benefit of having hip and knee armor. The pants, which are very-well made, have a significant mesh area, so, based on my jacket experience, I am very confident that they will provide adequate ventilation for hot weather riding. Without question, you would find them to be a lot of gear for the money! Now, whether or not you like them or the way they might fit you remains to be seen... Terry

Terry Thanks Terry, I will order a pair today. I have the Tourmaster Venture pants and they are great in cold weather with the liner. Without the liner they do good up to about 75-80 degrees or so before they become uncomfortable. I ordered the Joe Rocket Phoenix 4.0 mesh from NewEnough a couple of weeks ago for $89. The local dealer wanted $139. Trying to get ready for real riding season.

David, I take it to mean that you now have the Venture textile overpants (http://www.newenough.com/protective_apparel/textile_jackets_and_pants/tour_master/venture_textile_motorcycle_overpants.html) and not the Venture mesh pants (http://www.newenough.com/protective_apparel/mesh_jackets_and_pants/tour_master/venture_air_mesh_motorcycle_pants.html); would that be correct? I have a pair of Tourmaster Jeans and they were already starting to feel warm to me the other day when the temps here hit 70! Just curious... Terry Terry

Terry Terry Terry :2132:I have the TourMaster Venture overpants. Here is a link http://www.ridegear.com/rg/item/F-41093/Tour-Master/Venture-Pants.html?mv_pc=GBProducts This is not the place that I ordered from. Can't remember where I got them but I have had them for over a year and love them in not so hot weather. They are completely waterproof in the rain and I have been caught is a downpour. These and the TourMaster Jet Jacket are my choice for riding from 18 to 75 degrees.
timk Posted April 4, 2008 #12 Posted April 4, 2008 I bought a pair of Fieldsheir(sp) in the silver color. They can be worn from hot to cold. using the thermal liner in the cold.

Rick Butler Posted April 8, 2008 #15 Posted April 8, 2008 David, Both Fieldsheer and Olympia make a set of mesh overpants that come with a water-proof quilted liner, which is good to about 50 degrees. Both the pants and liner zip all the way to the hip and go on and come off very nicely. In fact since I bought these, my chaps have gone up in the attic. And the nice thing about them is that they have all the protective armor and padding so you can wear shorts underneath them if you want. Rick

Rick Thanks Rick but these are the ones that I ordered http://www.newenough.com/closeouts/mesh_jackets_and_pants/river_road/mojave_mesh_motorcycle_pants.html and according to FedEx they will be delivered today. I will post my opinion after I use them a few times.
Bvinson Posted April 8, 2008 #17 Posted April 8, 2008 If you ride in jeans these are nice for keeping the boys cooled down in the summer. https://www.motoliberty.com/prod_detail.asp?Prod_ID=345
rod Posted April 8, 2008 #18 Posted April 8, 2008 Rod, Mind telling us how you wet your pants? We carry water and ziplock bags of ice when we travel. Great for keeping the cool vests and scarves wet. Rod

I ordered the River Road Mojave Mesh Pants from NewEnough but the zipper was busted when they arrived. I returned them with no problems at all. I decided not to reorder these because I did not like the fit. So I am still in the hunt for a good mesh overpant for summer time use. Suggestions are welcome. Rick I take it that you have the Fieldsheer and Olympia pants? Are they overpants that I can wear street clothes under without feeling bulky?
