As I watched the young man attempt the procedure I noticed that the wheel and tire were too heavy for the machine and so made the shaft wobble,,,,

Just food for thought but The wheel balancer we have at work although it is built for transport truck wheels it is also capable of balancing car tires. Wonder if it would have worked for your tire. Sorry I never thought of this sooner.

In order to balance a rear Spyder tire the shaft has to be under 1". With a shaft that size the tire is too heavy and will drop the shaft,, so I built my own, personal, homemade contraption, and it worked like a charm. A piece of 3\8 threaded rod, two small bearings, some nuts and spacers and 2 workmates. Cost ended up less than a balance of the tire. Rod I had, bearings were too cheap to charge for, washers were available in my drawer, spacers were 1\2' copper, and the nuts were located at the Local Home Hardware, and they needed the money. 'course I could have used 4 Venture Riders for the nuts, but to get them to agree on anything as important as spinning a wheel could take all day, a box of beer, more stuff on the grill, a dozen toilet flushings, and patches of dead grass,,,,, and it would have cut into my riding time,,, so I elected to buy the nuts.

What da heck is this mind's eye stuff,, only thing in my minds eye is a set of unwritten forum rules. I been pawing thru those rules and still have found nothing that says Carl is exempt from the :worthless:rule. May just be the job actually required 5 nuts but you only had to find 4 more cause one of them was the nut who built the contraption we dont get to see?

I'm sorry guys,,, like, real sorry, kind of,,,, I had really thought that with your wild imagination that a few words on the screen would conjure up all kinds of images, but it seems you have disappointed me yet once again,,,,,,, how long must I stay with you before you become self sufficient kind of,,,, meaning hey, such small use of the minds eye, even with such tremendous writing of meaningful words,,,, well here you go,,,,,,, pictures for ya.

I noticed that I did embellish the former dialogue a little,,, seems I went for better quality than I had remembered, and used 3\8" nipples rather than copper, and then as I looked the final result I also noticed that I had put my lathe to good use to make brass collars for the bearings.
