DragonRider Posted August 4, 2015 #1 Posted August 4, 2015 I am getting another Venture to add to my collection of 1, K-rider is selling me his 87, it still needs a little tlc, but it runs great, has a few electric gremlins that need to be fixed, this will give me something to do with all my free time. Jamie is also giving up riding the 83 I sold to him 3 years ago, so I will be buying that one back also, I love that bike, and I regretted selling it, but its is still in great shape, I have been doing all the maintenance work on it for him. The 87 will be sold once I get everything fixed. Its a beautiful bike it is my favorite color combo. This is not the actual bike, but identical to it. http://www.venturerider.org/history/images/sliders/slide3.jpg
GAWildKat Posted August 4, 2015 #2 Posted August 4, 2015 Well then, you know who will be wanting one of those bikes, right?
DragonRider Posted August 4, 2015 Author #3 Posted August 4, 2015 Tricia, it will let you know when it is ready, hopefully it wont take me too long to get it all fixed up, The plastic is in good shape, it runs great since I synced the carbs, I think all the lighting issues are fixed, mostly its replacing the fuel lines, and getting the gremlins out the radios.

The '87s were either " Fifth Anniversary Gold" or Imperial Brown. If your bike is the white and cream then it is a 1988, or a repainted 1987 to match the 1988 colors. What is the VIN and build date?
DragonRider Posted August 4, 2015 Author #5 Posted August 4, 2015 We were told it was an 87, but I havent seen the paperwork yet, the paint looks to be the original, I will have to call him and have him look at the title and get back to me.

The front forks with the side mounted anti-dives are definitely 1988 or newer. In addition to checking the title, have him check the VIN label on the frame beneath the brake pedal. And it goes without saying that I would like to add it to the First Gen database.
Skid Posted August 4, 2015 #7 Posted August 4, 2015 I just sold my big Dodge yesterday, so I got an extra 20 feet of garage space again. It really looks empty in there. Wonder how many bikes I can add before Leslie catches on...
Aussie Annie Posted August 4, 2015 #8 Posted August 4, 2015 Lewis...does that mean Jamie is giving up riding altogether ????
DragonRider Posted August 4, 2015 Author #9 Posted August 4, 2015 No, not totally, with his diabetes, andheart problems, he doesn't want to take the chance of having an episode while riding, which did happen at Skid's when we went to the Skid In.......... We are looking to find him a reasonably priced trike to replace the 83, maybe we will get lucky and find one at a bargain price like I did. Lewis...does that mean Jamie is giving up riding altogether ????
Condor Posted August 4, 2015 #10 Posted August 4, 2015 The front forks with the side mounted anti-dives are definitely 1988 or newer. Now I'm confused. My '87 is the same color. Now I gotta go dig it out and get the Vin off it to make sure??.....
Freebird Posted August 5, 2015 #11 Posted August 5, 2015 WHAT '87 is the same color? The white was ONLY available for 1988.
DragonRider Posted August 5, 2015 Author #12 Posted August 5, 2015 Don, do you still have the list by years that shows the colors, it used to be in the history before you updated?
Freebird Posted August 5, 2015 #13 Posted August 5, 2015 It's still there. Just click "History" in the upper menu bar.
Condor Posted August 5, 2015 #14 Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) WHAT '87 is the same color? The white was ONLY available for 1988. The picture posted is not white. It's sorta a cream and light sandstone gray two tone. Looks just like my '87......... OK I just went out and at least got to the front fender of the '87. That's as close as I could get. The second color is a darker gray. I see one color listed as a gray, but the lighter color ain't no silver.... :-) The lighter color is sorta a creamy white. So... I haven't got a clue what year it falls under. I wish we could get an example of every color instead of just the name of the color. I really don't see any color description on mine that comes close to any of the color 'names'... Edited August 5, 2015 by Condor
Freebird Posted August 5, 2015 #15 Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) I know for sure that the one posted by Dragonrider is an '88. Not an '87. I always called it white because that's mostly what it is but you are correct, it is a two tone. It was my favorite of all the first gens and was the first Venture that I ever owned. Here's a picture of the one that I had. The colors listed are actually Creamy White / Ceramic Ivory. It's the only thing close to white that they ever made in a first gen model.
