H2O Posted August 3, 2015 #1 Posted August 3, 2015 Needing to replace the windshield on my '06 RSV (o.e.) and have narrowed it down to either the Clearview or the F4. We ride all year depending on conditions. Not going with a vent, keeping it close to original size. Any experience with either company's product good and bad?
utadventure Posted August 3, 2015 #2 Posted August 3, 2015 I had the oversize w/vent from Clearview on my '86. Last year I needed a screen on the '99 and decided to try the F4 w/vent. I've been happy with both brands. Last week I took a long trip with friends, the F4 handled rain, a few small rock and a bird. Not a scratch to be seen. I wouldn't hesitate to have either on my bike. cecdoo Posted August 3, 2015 #3 Posted August 3, 2015 I have the Clearveiw XL with vent on my 06 for at least 5yrs, no complaints at all. Still looks great with very few blems. I clean it with Honda Polish. No experience with the F4. I just ordered the Baggershield wanted to be able to take top off in rain, instead of looking thru Clearveiw, anxious to see how it works. bongobobny Posted August 3, 2015 #4 Posted August 3, 2015 Both are great shields, the F4 has better scratch protection...
H2O Posted August 4, 2015 Author #5 Posted August 4, 2015 "Rocks and a bird"? Sounds like you were ridin' an enduro! The F4 has the advantage of being fabricated from Lexan. The F4 also comes with a 4 year warranty, but I couldn't find any details on their site. The Clearview has a 6 month warranty and, it comes with a protective film that you can leave in place for 30 days and "test-ride" it. If you feel you didn't make the right choice, you can send it back and exchange it for a different style. I like that, plus the Clearview is about $25 more affordable. Sounds like they are both reputable companies. I'll toss a coin.
DblTrbl Posted August 4, 2015 #6 Posted August 4, 2015 I went with the F4 2" taller and 3" wider with vent....Love it. very good optics and sheds moisture. They stress you clean with "paper towels" and windex. Paper towels will not harm the finish.

They stress you clean with "paper towels" and windex. Paper towels will not harm the finish. That vent option is pricey! The only time I get really uncomfortable in the heat is idling at a stop. I'd probably like it but I'm not springing for it. Still flip/flopping but I'm leaning for the F4 stock replacement.................today.
H2O Posted August 6, 2015 Author #8 Posted August 6, 2015 Ordered an F4, 17.5" clear, basically the same size of the o.e. windshield. The p.o. of my '06 apparently used something that didn't agree with the original windshield compostion and really blurred it up and I'm really looking forward to getting this installed so I don't have to strain my eyes. Thanks for all your input on this subject. I really appreciate this website and all the good people here! Sincerely, Chris
H2O Posted August 19, 2015 Author #9 Posted August 19, 2015 Follow up: Ordered and received the new F4 windshield in 3 days! Installation went very easy. Took a 250 mile trip last Saturday into the Land Between the Lakes area of KY. Back roads on the way down, I69 (western ky parkway) and hghwy 41 on the return trip. Got back home right before midnight. The bugs were doing their job too! We were with two other bikes. Whenever we took a break I pulled a paper towel and the little bottle of Windex out and proceeded to do exactly what F4 says and the windshield cleaned up like new. I cleaned the whole bike Sunday and looked painstakingly over every inch and angle of that shield and it was spotless. I hope it keeps on cleaning up this well. It's guaranteed for 4 years so I'm expecting it to do so. The clarity is excellent and the Lexan will add a safety factor from highway asteroids.
