mirider Posted August 1, 2015 #1 Posted August 1, 2015 Can someone tell me if turn down exhaust tips are available to fit stock gen2 mufflers ?? Doing searches on-line and don't seem to find much. Have seen them on gen2 bikes, but never paid attention to whether they were on stock mufflers.
M61A1MECH Posted August 1, 2015 #2 Posted August 1, 2015 No there are no tips for Gen Venture mufflers, the Tour Deluxe muflers have a set of threaded inserts in the tail cone of the muffler that are designed to accept the screws that hold the removable tips that come on that model, they are more like slash cuts, but can be rotated to two or three positions. If you saw actual turn down tips or mufflersa they were after market. I had a set of Kromwerks on my 07, those were made originally to fit a Harley of some sort but Krome Werks made up a bracket to adapte the Harley attach points to the Venture , tey were a little unique because Krome Werks made the tips interchangeable and they sold a few diffeent styles. The turn downs could be rotated 90 degrees to make them turn outs, that is how I had mine set up. There was also another company, maybe Jardine , that made a set of slipons that wee strickly turn downs, the tips were part of the muffler outer shield and could not be turned or changed. Krome Werks is as far as I know not making those muflers any more and not very many people are making slip ons or exhaust systems for the Royal Star line anymore.
mirider Posted August 1, 2015 Author #3 Posted August 1, 2015 M61 - Thanks for the info.....kinda what I thought that the turndowns I saw were not on stock mufflers. I just like the looks of them but not willing to change the exhaust just for looks.
Freebird Posted August 2, 2015 #4 Posted August 2, 2015 Samson made some turn outs. Don't remember if they made turn downs or now. They were part of the pipe and could not be turned. I once had a set but they were WAY too loud for me. Also had a set of the Khomewerks where you could rotate the tips. I had those turned out also and liked them that way better than down. They were loud but not nearly as loud as the Samsons. I finally with with a pair of RSTD mufflers with the tips that would be turned in any direction. Liked them a lot. Some people have bought just the tips and drilled holes and mounted them on stock RSV mufflers.
vzuden Posted August 2, 2015 #5 Posted August 2, 2015 My RSTD had the factory positionable tips. They were more of a slash cut. I replaced those mufflers with Baron 4-2-4 Nasty Boys. They, too, had slash cut tips that can be rotated to any position. Both of these are options as they will fit the Venture. I still have the Baron mufflers in the shop and plan to use them again. It interested send a PM.
