Du-Rron Posted August 1, 2015 Share #1 Posted August 1, 2015 My bike has 8500 miles on it. Strangely, the front tire has worn completely out. There is less than 1/16 " till the wear bar is smooth and the tire has some sidewall cracking on it. The rear tire has plenty of tread left at 5/32" but has some minor sidewall cracking. Both tires are four years old and are OEM included on the bike at purchase. The rear tire I will be keeping as a "spare". I have decided to replace these with Shinko 777 tires. Phoneman1981 Posted August 1, 2015 Share #3 Posted August 1, 2015 Before I educated myself on tires I allowed my dealer to replace my tires. They chose 404's. Only lasted one season and 8000 miles. I just replaced my 3 year old Dunlop E3's that had 14k on them and could have went another 4k. I switched to Michelin Commander II's and went with a 130 width tire on the front. Many owners have high remarks for the 130 width helping with slow speed riding. Hearing of 18-22k miles on Michelins. I am impressed so far. Good luck with your tires
MikeWa Posted August 1, 2015 Share #4 Posted August 1, 2015 The cracking in your pictures is not an issue. Mike
Gary N. Posted August 2, 2015 Share #5 Posted August 2, 2015 I think Dunlop has changed something on the 404 fronts. I have used them exclusively on both my RSVs and have lost track of how many sets I have bought but traditionally got about 12000 miles on a set. The last two sets I bought, the front tire has gone only to about 8000 to 10000. The rear tire was still very good. Before this I always wore the back tire out first.
