cowpuc Posted July 31, 2015 #1 Posted July 31, 2015 Near as I can figure, Tweeks is gonna break into the 3rd 100k zone sometime during the trip out to Sturgis that we are about to embark on. Looking back on all the times she has provided us with combined with her faithfulness and loyalty thru it all - I just have a hunch that she is gonna make it. BUT,, having lived my life under the understanding that NOTHING, other than paying taxes and facing the grim reaper, is guarenteed in life - I figured I better snap some quick 300k shots of the old girl BEFORE we head out just in case the old girl decides she wants to stay in South Dakota. Tweeks is the 5th 83/84 1st Gen Yamaha Venture that somehow found itself lucky enough (or, depending on ones perspective, unlucky enough) to become part of our family since 1987. She also happens to have made the highest mileage without falling catastrophically ill along lifes pathway. All of my other 1st Gens made it well over 200k but fell short of the 300k mark. Tweeks is also the 3rd 1st Gen of ours that had to be short shifted to accomplish her old age as her tranny decided it didnt need 2nd gear way back at 40k miles. I personally feel sorry for mother Yamaha having long ago decided to stop honoring any form of factory reimbursement (could not have helped their future sales) for the major repair needed to correct this malady but, in all honesty, ol Tweeks has never seemed to mind much. Matter of fact, the horrible angry grinding sound that she used to make when I accidently tried to get some 2nd gear action out of her has now turned into some from of a polite, almost girlish, little ticking noise. All this probably seems like it should be irrelevant in the larger scheme of the prospect of getting to be part of the HUGE - 75th Sturgis Rally that Tip, Tweeks and I are about to participate in.. Funny, and perhaps a little strange, but I am actually as excited about being on Tweeks back when she crosses that 300k zone as I am about seeing all those gorgeous scoots and their funny looking leather covered lop eared varmints - I definitely have a longggg way to go in the maturing process I guess.. Here are a few of the pics I took this morning of Tweeks. She is packed and ready to roll!! My heart and soul is with her as she eagerly waits to cross into - THE ZONE!!

syscrusher Posted July 31, 2015 #6 Posted July 31, 2015 Congrats on over a million accumulated miles! Or maybe you bought a few of your Mk1s used? She's definitely one of a kind. Not held together with chewing gum and baling wire but rather stickers and zip ties. It's easy to see her charms, I hope no one steals her from you at the rally!
