DblTrbl Posted July 30, 2015 #1 Posted July 30, 2015 for those who have replaced the clutch in their 09 RSV, is this a good deal? $268.44 (free shipping) for the following: Barnett Clutch Spring Conversion Kit #511-90-10002 ($134.71) Barnett Clutch Plate Kit #306-90-20082 ($121.44) Yamaha Crankcase Cover Gasket #5PX-15451-00-00 ($12.29)
XV1100SE Posted July 30, 2015 #2 Posted July 30, 2015 Check Skydoc's pricing in the classified. He does the entire kit. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=62&title=second-gen-heavy-duty-clutch-spring-26amp-3b-full-disc-upgrade-kit&cat=17 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=53&title=first-and-second-gen-7-new-genuine-yamaha-clutch-friction-discs&cat=17 For $170 you get the spring, clutch plate, gasket, full set of friction plates. If you don't need/want the friction plates then cost is only $95 for the HEAVY DUTY CLUTCH DIAPHRAGM SPRING, (NAME BRAND) A NEW FULL CLUTCH FRICTION DISC TO REPLACE THE HALF DISC, AND A BRAND NEW, GENUINE YAMAHA REPLACEMENT CLUTCH COVER GASKET.
bongobobny Posted July 30, 2015 #3 Posted July 30, 2015 To answer your question on the Barnett setup, yes it is a good kit but more expensive than the Skydoc_17 setup...
RedRider Posted July 30, 2015 #4 Posted July 30, 2015 Barnett setup is high quality and stronger system than the OEM spring setup. I used to go through clutch springs about every 30k miles. The stronger VMax spring helped, but not much. Barnett upgrade has lasted about 50k and is still going strong. Worth the money in my opinion. RR
BratmanXj Posted July 31, 2015 #5 Posted July 31, 2015 I've been running a the Skydock heavy duty diaphragm spring on both the RS Venture as well as a reasonably stock Road Star Warrior, now my buddies heavily modified Road Star Warrior eats diaphragm springs and we were forced to go with the Barnett kit with Heavy Duty springs.
