We just returned home from an eleven day trip to Glacier NP & Yellowstone NP. We had to ride through several thunder storms, not the first time, but this time I noticed that when the rain hits the windshield it just stays there. Even at 50 MPH it doesn't get blown off. It's like the windshield is in a pocket of air. I'm guessing that the shape of the fairing has something to do with the wind not touching the windshield, so is there a fix for this issue? I know there are products like Rain-X that help water bead off but is the wind doesn't get to the water on the windshield it can't blow it off.

I swapped mine out for a Clearview windshield. Best investment I ever made. They are expensive, but they shed water well and fog also. Make sure to spend the extra money for the vent. its worth it!

Have ridden mine in several storms. Not sure which I dislike the most. When I don't have a coat of anything on it and the rain doesn't shed well, or when I do have a coating and the water sheds, comes over the top and down the backside.

Also, have big problems with it fogging up. 2 weeks ago, returning from a bike ride, I had to lean over, look around the windshield driving in 2nd gear at about 20 mph or so. Was a little frightening.

Clearview with vent for me as well....

when I think it might rain on me while riding I polish up the windshield using Pledge, the water beads up and runs off. It lasts a couple of hours in heavy rain, but you can apply it again, even in the rain.

I ran into similar issue last fall. Rained and humidity was up so back of shield kept fogging up. I finally had to stop at a Wally World and bough a shower squegee so I could clear windshield.

So the Clearview windshield takes care of the issue of the wind not blowing water off the windshield?

Yeah, Clearview designed the windshield with more angle so the air will blow the rain off as your riding. It works so much better than stock design. Check out their website and look at the pictures. You'll see it looks a little different.

I have a Clearview and get pretty much the same thing - humid conditions the back of the screen will fog up. In rain the water just sits on the front of the screen. Hard to see thru when you have rain on your helmet visor too.

I've tried wax and other cleaners but pretty much the same result.

Mine still has some rain that will sit there, but not as bad as the stock. With my Clearview I can still see very well while riding in the rain. As for the humidity on the back of the windshield, I've found if I position the vent to force air onto the windshield it clears the humidity up so I have a clear view.

Don, try taking off the "eyebrows", the chrome strips on the front fairing. Mine are off and what little rain I've been in, runs up and off to the sides of my Clearview.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that removing those chrome strips will change the aerodynamics of the fairing but I never would have thought of it.

I'm guessing using a blow dryer to heat up the double sided tape will help get them to come off easier.

Once they are off will there be a color difference from where they were and the rest of the fairing?

I have the same problem with the clearveiw, I just ordered the Baggersheild going to see if that works? Can take top half off in rain and see over shield. They are having a sale rite now also.

Don't know since the reason my eyebrows came off was to get the fairing re-painted right after I bought the scoot. But if yes, you could cover with a pin stripe tape.

if your windshield is the correct height for YOU where the middle of your nose is at top of windshield and you can see over it..fogging and rain wont bother you..+1 on clearview with vent med size

Yeah, I've read that you should be looking over the windshield by about an inch but I like looking through the windshield. It gives me more protection from the elements, it's just that this one doesn't shed water.

I made a "custom" height one. Best I can tell it is about right height. But in rain and behind trucks it sure dont work as well as the tall boy. Rain comes rite over and hit me just about in the eyeballs.

I am sure you are rite about the correct height for YOU, but I am not the only one on the bike 90% of the time, so passenger comfort= taller windshield.

Seems that way:stirthepot:...but I did hear him...and agreed. I also like the looks of the fairing without the plastic there...

I saw a pic somewhere along the way a fellow had taken off the eyebrows and added some strip LED lights. Looked super sharp actually. Better visibility in daylight and kind of cool on the night shot he had too.
