I just purchased a 1986 Venture Royal. I am getting a slight miss at 2500 to 3000 rpms. This happens when just reving and not moving. It might be happening when moving and just don't notice. I ran seafoam thru 2 tanks of gas and has gotten a little better. Fuel milage is about 35 mpg. Is this normal? Any suggestions? I did change plugs and put in ngk as in the owners manual. This made no diffence.

I was hoping someone could help me with this problem or at least give me some ideas. Guess I was wrong.

Look at the pdf for low speed misfires.

Read the first few paragraphs and they give you guidance on things to check.

I had a "lugging" issue between 2000-3000 rpm and a set of NGK iridium's and new plug caps cleared it right up. The plug caps have a bunch of little bits in them (resistor, spring, bras discs, etc) that have been known to corrode and cause issues.

Your 86 will already have the "upgraded" ign wires, but they're also 29 years old now so....:)

Thank you for that info I will try it and post the results. Any idea on what kind of mpg I should be getting?

My 83 hovers right around the 34-36 mpg mark around town. Roughly around 38-39 if all highway at around 60 mph.

So I think I have found that the miss is a mixture problem that is not a problem. Under load it runs fine and was advised not to mess with mixture as it could make things really bad. I have noticed that this engine is really cold blooded! Has to warm up almost 20 minutes before it quits stalling. Think my winter project will be to rebuild carbs. Any one know what it would take to change to fuel injection if possible?
