TechSpark Repair manual on CD

I'm looking for a hardcopy manual because I'm not really happy enough with the digital manual I found on our website here. anyone have experience with the TechSpark manual on CD? otherwise Clymer or Haynes?

I'm not familiar with Techsmart. For hardcopy though, I liked the Yamaha manual.

I just print the needed pages from the on line Yamaha manual and then I have hard copy for when I am working.

Since the on line is a PDF file, I have it downloaded to my home computer and to my phone for reference on the road.

 

I have been very disappointed in both Haynes and Clymer manuals in the past. The both left out important details that ended up causing issues.

I printed my entire manual. I think I used about $30 in paper and ink. I asked at Office Depot and I think they said they could do it for about $40. Seems like the way to go.

They did mine. I put it the sleeves & a note book. Cost around $55.00.

Money well spent. I even keep my manual with me when I travel. And it has been used on a trip more than once.

I have a older computer in my garage and 40" monitor (Flat tv) connected to it. I have the downloaded Yamaha manual and the pictures are actually clear on the 40". I have the techsmart d/loaded manual. Save your money, it has sexy sound effects when you turn the pages and it comes with games. Otherwise it's the factory manual. It is easier to search (as the Yamaha isn't except by using "Control F" "F" for FIND) There is a section on general motorcycle maintenance procedures...

thanks Doug! and all. I was hoping the tech smart would have a search FUNCTION.. mY DOWNLOADED FACTORY MANUAL is a pdf but not searchable.. Also, Doug, you pictures and diagrams look clear on the 40" monitor? If I blow up the pics and diagrams onl my laptop, they are very grainy.. the search, and grainy pics, and some blacked out pages is why my downloaded factory manual isn't cutting it. (I figure if I print that manual then the pics will be dark and grainy like on the monitor//) - but some folks printed a downloaded copy! can anyone share a link? maybe I missed something.

Pics are way more clear. Something to do with the larger monitor and the pixels not being pulled so far apart I'm sure. You can score a 40" monitor on Craigslist or at Goodwill from time to time....

That's because the manual is a PDF (Portable Data File) and the computer processes it differently than ordinary image files (jpg, bmp, gif, etc.). Image files are simply enlarged similar to enlarging paper photos... you lose clarity and detail. Whereas enlarging a PDF is more like viewing a physical item under a magnifying glass.

 

It should respond similarly and remain clear and maybe even get clearer due to the monitor size. The large monitor will be especially useful when viewing the electrical diagrams.

 

I use a 24" monitor... works great.

 

Still no substitute for the paper manual, though.

Maybe I need to verify my manual download from this site to get clear pics on my laptop.. as for searchable pdf, I think a good scan can be ocr'ed in acrobat and saved as pdf or word.
