CD Player Wiring

I have a heavy wire with plug located in my left side saddlebag which I've been told is for an optional CD player. Since I don't ever plan on installing one, can I just cut that wiring off to get that plug out of the bag or will that mess up something else.

Probably can cut it off, the radio won't care....but why not unplug it from inside fairing and take it off? Little more work but then you can sell it as they are not commonplace.

I would take the time to remove the harness, there was a member just the other day wanting to buy one, they go for abouut $20.00 on ebay, I paid $75.00 for the first one I bought from a local audio shop.

 

If you do just whack it, make sure none of the leads are shorted together there are 12 or 13 wires in there.

Ya someone here was just looking for on of the critters. It should run just up under the passenger seat I think. Or you can look for one of them i simple thingies

Since I didn't want to make the effort to remove the fairing, decided to lop off the connector under the seat. Now my radio won't play.....Now what ??? Checked the audio fuse and it is fine....none of the wires are shorted where I cut it...apparently there was continuity created by the plug ?

Guess i have to remove the fairing after all.....

That doesn't make sense at all.....but obviously there is a problem.

Happy to report I found the problem. Turns out there's another 10 amp fuse called Back-up that also affects the audio system. That fuse was blown, replaced it and all is well........Suspect when I clipped the wiring, I momentarily shorted it out with the cutter blade. Will keep an eye on it and will know where to look if it happens again.
