Remembering that old phone business song,, "reachhh out, and touch someone" - Sure makes one long for the day when we can actually reach thru the cyber lines and "touch" the necks of scrawney scammers with our hands dont it Sailor:big-grin-emoticon:

I got an automated call from the "IRS" a couple weeks ago. They said a warrant had been issued for my arrest, but I could avoid arrest by calling them and paying my delinquent taxes. I just forwarded the number, which came up Berger, TX on my caller ID, to the Ky Atty Generals Office. Still waiting for the chrome bracelets,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,! :rotf:

(maybe they'd better bring a straight jacket too)

Had a similar issue last year with someone claiming to be IRS and that we owed $2600 and if arrangements weren't made within 1-1/2 hours, an issue for my arrest would be filed and I would be arrested before the day was over. Shook my wife up. I knew I didn't owe. I didn't get arrested.

And 2 days ago, I got a phone call from Washington state. I own timeshare. Guy introduced himself to be with some law firm that is representing timeshare owners concerning a class action lawsuit filed against somebody scamming timeshare owners. I told him that it sounds like he may be one of them. He said he isn't and I replied not interested and politely hung up.

Amazes me that folks actually make a living doing this crap.

Just to be safe... transfer all you assets (you can keep the liabilities) to my Nigerian banker. :-)

No Can Do ... Unfortunately I already transfered my assets to my wife .... however, she let me keep the liabilities!

Makes me think of a Jerry Reed song ... "She got the gold mine, I got the shaft"

If I get a real live scammer on the phone I like to lay the "Curse of the Wendingo on them, they don't usually call back.

When I get a scammer on the phone......"is your computer running slower than normal?"......."are you paying higher interest on your credit card than you should be?".......etc..........I like to just place the phone gently on the counter and let "them" hear 2 or 3 (or 15) minutes of my household background noise.

Costs me nothing......and, they get the message pretty quick!

You could always pull a Tom Mabe prank on the scammer and inform them that the person they are attempting to contact (you) is the subject of an ongoing federal investigation and demand to know their involvement with said perpetrator. Inform them that if they do not cooperate they will be considered a hostile witness. Give some off phone shouts to your co-workers to gather as much evidence as they can before "wiping" the crime scene. :detective:

They probably won't bother you again.:happy65:

Clue 2 is not much of a clue after all we are talking Canadian Government. I would be more concerned if the perp spoke with perfect English.

You are right. I was born in Canada and I have had my own passport since I was a teenager but the last time I tried to renew it took 6 months and was rejected for unknown causes four times. Every person I dealt with was and East Indian female. A friend of mine who was born here but lived most of her life in the US and became an American citizen moved back to Canada and tried for five years to regain her Canadian citizenship. She even married to a Canadian citizen. Her application was denied, no reason given. Every person she dealt with in immigration and citizenship was an East Indian female. She could not even understand what they were saying half the time.
