Checking oil level

Do we need to have the bike on the center stand to check oil or just hold it level & look at the sight glass?

No, you can check just by holding the bike level, but it is a lot SAFER to put it on the center stand...

I check mine while sitting on it. Just reach down with my cell phone and take a short video. Have 2nd gen and no center stand.

YamahaLarry I like that idea, I am not sure if I am talented enough for that. az1103 that idea works the best but for other reasons.

nd gen I use a 2x4 piece and slip under the side stand. Makes it pretty level.

...NEVER try and hold your bike upright and check the oil level...Tried that once and dropped my bike into my wife's new car!!!!Cost me $1,200 (Not wanting to use insurance claim). Still hearing about it today!!!!

I use a small extending inspection mirror, sit on the bike with it upright, hold it so you can see the sight glass. No fret, no sweat!! You can pick one up at about any parts store for around $5.00.
