Ride2much Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I am experiencing an air leak in the rear air system on my 86. I have not tore anything apart just yet, headed out on a week long trip in two days,. When the compressor pumps to the selected pressure it stops ,then I hear a leak before the valve shuts and the air pressure is gone. Just thought I would share a shut term fix. When the compressor just about stops at the desired setting, I turn the key to on,which shuts it down,I go about my business or even start up and ride, somehow the valve closes on its own with out losing air,and holds just fine for several days. works every time. Don't ask me to explain how.
jasonm. Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 the rear line is not very long. You need one or 2 things to find the leak. 1st is soapy water when you think you are near the source. The source can be at the compressor area under the trunk or the line from compressor to shock. There is ONE connection joint easy to check under the seat right side near the mounting tab(s) that bolt the seat down. That is the 1st place to check. As you just need normal wrenches to disassemble and reassemble. 2nd Do you have mechanic's stethascope like your family doctor but with a pointy thing on the end ? That can also help trace is down
Vonwolf Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 My front plastics has been off my bike for a long time and reading this just reminded me there is a slow leak somewhere on my CLASS system. It is probably a good time to find it, but The control is not connected is there a way to jump power to the compressor or a way to hook up a regular compressor so I can pressurize the system to find the leak without messing with the computer control?
