Guest erock1 Posted June 24, 2015 #1 Posted June 24, 2015 can someone point me in the direction of the member that was making/or offering the light bar extender to provide clearance for fairing removal without having to dismount the driving lights. I know I read something about this, but can't find it now. Thanks.
NSA Joe Posted June 24, 2015 #2 Posted June 24, 2015 Get ahold of slowroll I think he might be on vacation, he might have already left for Brandon but he makes some great parts
Eck Posted June 24, 2015 #3 Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) I sent you an email of who to contact (including his email address) for the light bracket extender. He used to make them and you can pay him thru paypal. Note: Not sure if he still makes them ... Edit: I didn't know Slowroll made these brackets. I added him to my saved information...Thanks Edited June 24, 2015 by Eck
BMW Posted June 24, 2015 #4 Posted June 24, 2015 I was one of the persons making these but I do not make them any more.
Stealthblade Posted June 24, 2015 #5 Posted June 24, 2015 Slowrollwv made mine for me just a week ago. Very sturdy and great looking product. I also got twinkie covers which look sweet. Bob
eusa1 Posted June 24, 2015 #6 Posted June 24, 2015 @slowrollwv will get tagged to this question by adding @ before his user name. yes he makes these and several other bling items, it will now allow you to go direct to his info as it is highlighted too.
Squidley Posted June 24, 2015 #7 Posted June 24, 2015 SlowrollWV is the one, I just purchased one from him and was extremely please with it. Looks fantastic and functions just like it's supposed to, can't recommend it enough. Here's a few pics.
Guest erock1 Posted June 24, 2015 #8 Posted June 24, 2015 Awesome. Thanks guys. Just sent him a message regarding the purchase of one.
djh3 Posted June 25, 2015 #11 Posted June 25, 2015 I dont know if its going to work. But I just got longer bolts and made some longer spacers. I notice Sloroll bracket is offset lower also.
bongobobny Posted June 25, 2015 #12 Posted June 25, 2015 Dion, I have the same setup but I still have to loosen the bolts to get the front fairing off...
BratmanXj Posted June 25, 2015 #13 Posted June 25, 2015 Oooo Oooo, one of the project I'm collecting parts for in this winters mods, full front end "reconstruct" with HID headlight & Light Bar along with a bunch of other stuff. I'll be getting in touch with @slowrollvw
djh3 Posted June 25, 2015 #14 Posted June 25, 2015 Dion, I have the same setup but I still have to loosen the bolts to get the front fairing off... Well thats discouraging. I made my spacers 3/4" hoping to get it out far enough. OH well other than the couple bucks for the bolts I aint out no money.
KeithR Posted June 25, 2015 #15 Posted June 25, 2015 I have the machined aluminum block extender that I installed years ago and like was mentioned I still have to loosen the bolts to remove the fairing. I thought it was just me but maybe I need some bushings or an additional plate behind the spacer to bring the bar out farther. Keith
vzuden Posted June 25, 2015 #16 Posted June 25, 2015 I have the machined aluminum block extender that I installed years ago and like was mentioned I still have to loosen the bolts to remove the fairing. I thought it was just me but maybe I need some bushings or an additional plate behind the spacer to bring the bar out farther. Keith With Slowroll's extender it does drop the bar down and out so there is no need to touch the bar's mounting bolts when splitting the fairing. Had mine off a few times and it is very clear of it. I did have to add a longer rubber bumper to each my lower deflectors so they are contacting the fork. I've read on here that if you don't the supporting metal will fatigue and they will break off. I replaced one of the plexiglass attaching bolts with a longer (stainless) bolt and glued a rubber bumper from the hardware store to the end.
djh3 Posted June 25, 2015 #17 Posted June 25, 2015 For my bumpers I used some "rubber expansion nuts" from home depot. I think 6 or 8 32 thread. Fit space good, just touches the fork. Threaded end against support bracket.
