For us "northerners" in the West who've been basking in great spring weather (well at least the West coast area) with temps soaring around 25-30 celcius (77-86 f ) ... what's another 14-23 f (8-13 c ) degrees? Yep, Yreka forecast is for temps around 100f during VW2015 ... bring lots of sunscreen y'all! We're almost there!

Dont forget your 50+ lipscreen (chapstick kind of stuff). Works great on noses and above the eyes (wont sweat off into your eyes = burns like crazy when that happens), ear tips and bald heads.. Also can use it to write stuff on your belly and have your name sun tanned across it!!

Here is wishing ALL of you Venture Westers the GREATEST time ever - with NO sunburned lips!!

THAT is one thing I won't forget. I learned that lesson the hard way. Several years ago I went on a ride from Kamloops, BC, down thru Spokane, over to Butte, down to Salt Lake City, over to Reno, then to Sacramento and back up the West Coast hwy.

It was late July. Never put on any sunscreen. By the time I got to Salt Lake, I'd badly burned my nose, upper and lower lip, chin, ear tips. By the time I got to Reno, some of it was pussing, bleeding, and scabbing ... I can't imagine how bad I looked to others. No wonder I couldn't get any ladies to dance with me that night in Reno LMAO!!!

Just another Okanagan summer's day, lol! Yup, I'll be feeling the heat. Rick are you staying at Cousins in The Dalles on the 23rd? If so, we'll see you there. Doug

@divey Yup, got my room booked. Might even run into you enroute if you're going down 97. I'm branching off I-5 at Everett and taking Rte 2 over to Leavenworth and swinging south on 97 from there.

It was 32C in Winnipeg a couple weeks back while I was there to help me acclimatize. I enjoy the sun and warmth so hopefully there will be some pool side brews served up.

I will be going out to buy a cup holder for the bike for the ride also to make it easier to keep hydrated on the ride.

I hit 102 today with 5% humidity. Not bad at all...but wouldn't want to ride in that heat.

I'm prone to skin cancer so going nekked like Cowpuc isn't available for me...so full safety gear. Hot.

I think Phoenix may hit a record this weekend....I won't...we are higher in altitude (3Kfeets) :sun1: so I'm happy about that!:scorched: Just planted some tomatoes in a pot (have rocks for lawn)...nice out now...must be 96! :fnd_(16):

We took some of that route last year. We're leaving 97 at Omak and heading a bit east to Coulee Dam and then south on 21 I believe for a bit of different scenery. Doug

I got my route planned out. I'll be hugging the western Sierra Nevada and taking the State route 49 most of the way up. Towards the end I'll finish on the I-5 cruisin' into Yreka. Swimsuits will be packed cause it's gonna be hot.:sun:

Long sleeved 'T's', and sunscreen on the back of the neck and the top of the hands. Nothing on the face. CA is a helmet required state. Where's everyone going next week????????? :confused07:
