cowpuc Posted June 10, 2015 #1 Posted June 10, 2015 Three days,, three days and TOTR (pronounced totter = Tunnel Of Trees Rider) will be a married woman. She is our last born child and has been a treasure to father.. Tot and I go wayyyy back. Her days of sleeping in her Pocahanos Tent, learning to ride a bicycle, playing for hours and hours with her on Hercules (1987 Yamaha Warrior Quad) following me thru countless adventures into areas not fit for man nor beast, crossing America on one of our 1st Gens, attending 3 colleges to become an ISL (interpreter for the deaf) are history.. 3 days and her last name will change from matching mine to that of her soon to be husbands:confused24:.. I love that girl:sun:.. In case you ever wondered what marrying off a daughter (I have 3) is like, here is a blow by blow drama of what can happen. I often wondered where the terminology of "wedding shower" came from.. I mean,, do those women actually spray each other with water or something.. Well, I am now fully informed, I have grown. Now I think the term "shower" should be changed to "flood" because that would closer denote what our home looks like it had happen to it, looks like a flood went thru here with debris of girly stuff associated with setting up a household being scattered everywhere.. The towel industry just got a huge boost in sales as did the silverware industry. Not to far behind is the small appliance industry which is closely followed by clothing and makeup.. In my sneakin around thru all this stuff I have yet to find even a set of screwdrivers or pliers, certainly NOTHING along the line of anything a man could use - like a set of vacuum gauges or even a quart of 20w50 for that matter.. I kind of feel sorry for her fiancee cause I highly suspect that he has no idea that he didn't get included in the flood damage, but alas, he too will soon be an informed person just like his soon to be Father-in-law.. Keep in mind that all the above is PRE WEDDING day, I will keep you varmints informed as TOTR and all her family here finish this task before us.. This is CTFWing to the MAX!!!!
Flyinfool Posted June 10, 2015 #2 Posted June 10, 2015 I know what you are feeling. I married off 3 daughters also, just many years ago. (and now married off 1 granddaughter) It is a day of many emotions. Both happy and sad. Your baby is leaving the nest to head out on her own life. You will officially become empty nester's. BUT In the flood damage I did make sure there was a set of screwdrivers, pliers, channel locks, wrenches, AND a hammer. At the time I was called a fool, but that turned out to be their most used and appreciated gift years down the road.
Aussie Annie Posted June 11, 2015 #4 Posted June 11, 2015 Congratulations to TOTR.... have a wonderful wedding day
T.J. Posted June 11, 2015 #5 Posted June 11, 2015 Hello Puc, I hope the weather is great for that special day:sun: and the tears will not burn your eyes too much. It was good to have meet the three of you in my short visit.
saddlebum Posted June 11, 2015 #6 Posted June 11, 2015 Obviously congratulations are in order here. I suppose you will be giving them a 1st gen for their wedding gift complete with its very 1st sticker.
stanG Posted June 11, 2015 #7 Posted June 11, 2015 I remember back 33 years ago when my wife and I had our wedding shower... Some wise shower-goer actually brought a fishin' pole for the groom!!! I felt so appreciated! LOL
YamahaLarry Posted June 11, 2015 #8 Posted June 11, 2015 I don't look forward to it. I have only one daughter (2 boys) and needless to say, she is her father's favorite child. She is beautiful, 24 years old with a great job and still lives under my roof in an apartment I had built for my ailing mother in law a few years back. I dread the day that this happens, as it will be a day that I am an emotional wreck. I wish you luck and looking forward to some pics, including the tux.
Stealthblade Posted June 11, 2015 #9 Posted June 11, 2015 Only one loaf of bread? Gonna be some people missed out on a ham sammich me thinks. Bob
VanRiver Posted June 12, 2015 #10 Posted June 12, 2015 Congrats Puc to you and all the family! Hopefully the groom is a worthy partner for your lovely daughter.....but I have a feeling based on her great parents and upbringing she probably picked a pretty good guy. My only daughter is turning 15 in a few days, so hopefully I'm many, many, many years away from experiencing what you are going through. I also like cleaning my guns regularly on the front porch to keep the boys away that are unfortunately already knocking on the door. You just need to shoot one (only a flesh wound), and word spreads pretty fast! Soak it all in, one of life's great experiences! You and Tippy done good!
b2dad Posted June 12, 2015 #11 Posted June 12, 2015 Congrats Puc and tippy and to TOTR. She must be a wonderful young lady since you are her father. Here's hoping the wedding day goes off without a hitch and it's a lovely memorable day. Can't wait for pics
JohnT Posted June 12, 2015 #12 Posted June 12, 2015 Congratulations Puc. Been there and done that twice in my life. Bittersweet stuff indeed.
Oldseadog Posted June 13, 2015 #14 Posted June 13, 2015 Congratulations! I have two daughters, both single(ish). I'm not ready for them to get married, even thought they are 27 & 21.
Flyinfool Posted June 13, 2015 #15 Posted June 13, 2015 So who is more nervous today @cowpuc, @Tippy, or @Totr. Who is gonna cry first?
billmac Posted June 14, 2015 #16 Posted June 14, 2015 Must have been a busy day and night that ole Puc didn't sneak in here to post a couple of pic's or say something, too bad Tippy didn't snap a few pic's of puc out of his comfort zone.
Flyinfool Posted June 14, 2015 #17 Posted June 14, 2015 Must have been a busy day and night that ole Puc didn't sneak in here to post a couple of pic's or say something, too bad Tippy didn't snap a few pic's of puc out of his comfort zone. Maybe she did and we will have to hope and wait and see. If not I'll bet TOTR will have some...... now how to get hold of her........
eagleeye Posted June 14, 2015 #18 Posted June 14, 2015 I'm thinking that many pictures will be forthcoming, and you know we will see puc in a tux.
cowpuc Posted June 14, 2015 Author #19 Posted June 14, 2015 Tip and I would like to THANK to all of our family here for the thoughts and love expressed toward TOTR and our family during this very special time, it is GREATLY appreciated! What an amazingly wonderful, yet the biggest roller coaster ride of emotions possible it was for all of us!! I am now ready to face the next one - I think I may have found my next addiction that is wayyyyy more exhilarating than even riding cross country on a motorcycle and only slightly more expensive So who is more nervous today @cowpuc, @Tippy, or @Totr. Who is gonna cry first? You know me well enough to know that I was the first, yep, lost it right when we got to the altar,, I am soooooooooooooooooo happy for Totr but,,,,, believe it our not I am lost for words to explain the emotional roller coaster ride I just got off from ... It was a WONDERFUL experience that rattled my cage of emotions like nothing I ever experienced before!! Tell you one thing, I have got some news for the next person I hear say that us guys have no emotional makeup - THAT was tough!! I'm thinking that many pictures will be forthcoming, and you know we will see puc in a tux. For some reason my wedding pictures didnt come out the best BUT, I got some great video!! In the following vid: At the beginning is my wife - Tippy, being escorted by our third born "child" who's biker name is "P-Dog" (he LOVED prairie dogs!!), followed at 2:10 in the video by my first born daughter = Awahoo who is seen fooling with the girls hair in front of her - right behind her is our second born daughter - Cappy. Both of these girls are our California crew and have their menfolk with them visiting with us at this time.. At the end of this video is a quick glance (you will notice her scolding me for taking video when we are suppose to be getting ready to walk - also notice how quickly she (the Bride) snapped out of for a quick smile with her dad) at Totr and myself just before the altar walk:big-grin-emoticon:! What a wonderful day!!
eagleeye Posted June 14, 2015 #20 Posted June 14, 2015 That was so awesome Puc, thanks for letting us be a part of it.
