Had a little farming accident yesterday. I went to get off a 4wd tractor and had a little trouble. The cab platform is about 6 feet in the air. When I went to climb down, I was in a hurry. Instead of facing the tractor a climbing down like using a ladder, I was in a hurry and went to walk down the steps like a set of stairs keeping my hand on the handrail. Only problem was my tennis shoe got caught in the mud cleat on the top step, losing my my balance. I figured rather than go face first into the gravel I better just jump. My left foot hung up on the next step down and I couldn't get my leg under me. I doubled over backwards with my leg pinned underneath. A trip to ER showed no broken bones, although I felt a really bad pop. I could of swore I broke it. So I am in a walking boot with crutches. If it doesn't feel somewhat better in 4 or 5 days we will do an MRI to see what ligament damage there is. My knee feels pretty bad too from leg being twisted up under me. I'm more afraid of my knee because every movement with the walking boot on I have sharp pain on outside of knee and it feels sloppy. I'm afraid this might be a problem holding bike up later..........welcome to summer I guess. Sitting in chair as we speak with leg elevated and ice on it.........

Maybe if I weighed 225 pounds instead of 275. All that weight coming down on that leg pinned under me wasn't good. I was all bent out of shape like a pretzel.

I told my neighbor "just picture those trapeze artists and how graceful they look. I didn't look anything like that". He got a laugh out of it......

my gull bladder.

I had a gull bladder once. You should have seen it explode when I hit it with a .22 Hornet!

Dang, Rod, I sure hope you get better.

You want me to diagnose your ailment?

It may require some creative surgery to fix it.

Side cutters, ball peen, etc.

So sorry to hear of your mishap Bernie .

After reading your post, many here wish they could take your pain away, but all we can do is send our thoughts and prayers in hopes of a full recovery.

Went to orthopedic center yesterday. I have to go back and meet with a specialist/surgeon on Friday. Apparently there is enough ligament damage that stuff is not aligned right in my foot/ankle. Nothing is broken, but may need a screw or 2 to hold stuff in proper alignment. I hope initial diagnosis is wrong and the surgeon says to leave it alone, but that may be wishful thinking.

Hope things are back to normal by Sturgis, camping spot is paid for, and I'm going whether I Can ride or not.......

dang that's not supposed to happen. Hope they are wrong. I feel for ya. would not put much stock in what there saying till the surgeon says it.

I went to the Podiatrist yesterday for further tests. Tests turned out good. They did a stress x-ray on my foot. That means that the doctor puts on his lead apron and gloves and what not and grabs your shin in one hand and your foot with the other. When they take the x-ray he twists your ankle joint to the side so they can tell if the joint is working properly. If it is, the tendons aren't damaged it will be fine, if they are damaged, the joint won't flex right and bones will slide around, meaning you need a screw to stabilize the joint. He said I was lucky, he couldn't believe I didn't have more damage than I have. He said the sprain I have doesn't get any worse, but its not broken.

2 more weeks in a walking boot, then an ankle brace with therapy for another 4 weeks or so. So look out Sturgis, I think I'm gonna make it!

I told my friend that is a Viking fan, my foot has so much purple and yellow on it that I might as well become a Vikings fan. But I bet being a Vikings fan hurts worse than this!!!!!!
