eagleeye Posted June 8, 2015 #26 Posted June 8, 2015 I remember driving off of the curve, and the only other thing that I remember is hoping that it didn't land on top of me. (it didn't) Then being on the ground with my back in pain. That's it. It sure is interesting how that happens. got to be a mental block of some sort.
Great White Posted June 8, 2015 #27 Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) It's different for everyone. It's all part of the flight, flight or freeze response. It's innate and automatic to everyone. It's a coping mechanism. I remember pretty much every little detail of every bump or scrape in every dump (or stupid move) that's turned a motorcycle into a wad of crumpled metal on me. I'm one of those fortunate (?) individuals that time goes into instant slow mode in an accident (I'm the "fight" response type). I have ample time to reflect on how much it's going to suck when it's all done and the general meaning of life as I "slow mo" soar though the air.......suddenly motorcycle-less. Usually, I've figured out what went wrong (or what I did wrong) just before I hit the ground. Oh yeah, and also a full appreciation of how much this is going to suck..... TDunc Posted June 9, 2015 #29 Posted June 9, 2015 Dan, I am so glad to see you back on here. Lots of good advice and encouragment on here and many people love you and are glad you are ok. (at least mostly!) Seriously, stuff happens for reasons and you of all people should know that. Time will heal and then you can continue from there. Please stop worring about what happened and worry about not being stubborn and do what the doctors say. That is the most important thing right now. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you in the coming weeks. I do go to 4 10's on the 15th and can shoot up there to help out with chores.... Only if I get another burger like the last one!!! Let me hear from you dude and Prayers up for continued healing.....reduced pain healing!!! Adrian
Barrycuda Posted June 9, 2015 #30 Posted June 9, 2015 Dan, great to see you on here again. We are all praying for a speedy recovery. My 2 pennies is this: do t force or over think things. Take the necessary time to heal physically and perhaps mentally. No one would want you to rush into anything without making sure you're a,right and it should come naturally. You'll know when the time is right. Please consider... PUC...I love ha buddy and ya know I do, but I gotta razz ya. You went through those numbers and I recall seeing you post Number 6 twice, which really means you had 8 things to say, not seven 😇🎱8⃣🕗
y2krider Posted June 9, 2015 #31 Posted June 9, 2015 Dan, so sorry to hear about the accident. I just read about it as I was away on vacation last week. Prayers are lifted for a complete and speedy recovery.
Brown Angel Posted June 9, 2015 #32 Posted June 9, 2015 Yammer I feel your pain. There is no way with so many people that care, you are not going to have those memories back. We both need to heal but the rest will take care of itself. You and many others have made me feel like such family and welcome to the point that I contact you guys before my own family in situations. Triking will be a fun part to a new life in the 1st Gen Let's get together when this is all healed. Praying for peace of mind for you my friend.
Brown Angel Posted June 9, 2015 #33 Posted June 9, 2015 I know this happens every time we go down but worse this time. I can't remember and it looks like I just couldn't handle a panic stop. Bugging me a lot. Smacked my head enough to get some bleeding on the brain but lost memory completely. Here's a good memory…

eagleeye Posted June 12, 2015 #42 Posted June 12, 2015 Doc scheduled a ton of tests. Not happy with Ohio horsepital. Claims she s going to get to the bottom of why I feel like a old man while she is looking. Claims old mem cain't ride 900 lb bikes. I think she has been talking to the Warden!! Bring her to Don's and she will see that they can and do. Hope you continue to mend
Skid Posted June 12, 2015 #43 Posted June 12, 2015 Old man can ride a 900 lbs bike if it's on three wheels. And with the miles you have I would expect to feel old. I just hope to make it to 66. (I think)
PBJ Posted June 13, 2015 #44 Posted June 13, 2015 Dan, so sorry to hear about this accident. Don't worry about the memory it will come back. And as others have said you will be spooked for a while, probably longer than you'll want to be. You can't let that panic you. go with it , ride it out it will go away. Years ago i was riding home from work around midnight, 4 lane separated HIGHWAY. A deer crossed the road. Another on the other side. I see him, he see's me. he doesn't move. I'm slowing down but only to about 50mph when he bolts across the far lane, he jumps the barrier and is front of me like that. I hit the brakes planning to swing out the back end broadside him and fall on top. Instead I just clip his back leg . But for weeks I was terrified I couldn't scan the road fast enough . I hated that feeling of fear, but I loved riding so much I wouldn't let it stop me. It was almost 6 weeks before my hyper vigilance finally subsided. remember the many years of good riding. You'll get there my friend. And a trike ain't a bad alternative. I rode a sidecar with my kids and loved it. There are a lot of alternatives now a days.
rbig1 Posted June 13, 2015 #45 Posted June 13, 2015 lets see hook two v4s together put in trike. there is a double wammy super fast
Yammer Dan Posted June 13, 2015 Author #46 Posted June 13, 2015 Drugs are doing their job at last. Pain is a lot less and will probally end up getting some sleep today.
Flyinfool Posted June 13, 2015 #47 Posted June 13, 2015 Glad to hear you are at least peaking around the corner. nite nite A good days sleep always helps.
Yammer Dan Posted June 14, 2015 Author #48 Posted June 14, 2015 Moving very slow this morning. Feel about 140.......
Flyinfool Posted June 14, 2015 #49 Posted June 14, 2015 Getting older can be better than the alternative. Your getting to feel almost as old as I do now. You better get that train slowed down and headed in the other direction.
