cimmer Posted June 5, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 5, 2015 Sounds like a fun trip Bill, and I take it there will be a stop at Betty's Pies in there along the way too. I want to do that trip and then go across to International Falls and down to the cities. I been told the ride between Thunder Bay and Fort Frances is a beautiful drive. Enjoy yourself and be safe.. Black Owl Posted July 20, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 20, 2015 Still can't get used to calling it Thunder Bay. It was Port Arthur when I was working there as a cook in Dinty's Restaurant. First KFC Franchise in Canada. Had the pleasure of meeting Col Sanders there.

Guest divey Posted July 21, 2015 Share #8 Posted July 21, 2015 Thunder Bay used to be called Fort William! Wasn't it known as both those names - Fort William - Port Arthur alias The Lakehead??
The Tooch Posted July 21, 2015 Share #9 Posted July 21, 2015 Yes both towns amalgamated to become Thunder Bay in 1970.
bj66 Posted July 22, 2015 Share #10 Posted July 22, 2015 Quick question to you northerners. I live in South Dakota and we have a sanctioned dirt car racing series called wissota (covers basically the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Montana, Wyoming, and some Canadian drivers). There was a guy by the name of Joel Cryderman who used to come down here and race more than once a year. When the big money races were here, so was he. Have any of you heard of him? He was a beast! Not sure if he is still racing, but I'm guessing he was still doing it 5 years ago. Sorry for the hijack, not very often you have Thunder Bay on a topic. I'm gonna have to look up and see how far it is from Thunder Bay to Aberdeen SD.
