Have any of you guys (& girls!) notice an increase in response time and power after installing Road King mufflers??? Or is it a delusion on my part it!:smile5:

I have a set of touring RK's on 7o9, and don't notice any difference except the nice rumble, But...... the set the dealer gave me 'por nada' for the '04 are nasty loud, and it goes from idle to 5000rpm in a nano-second. They were also supposed to be RK's?? So maybe yes..maybe no??

When I picked up the '99 it had aftermarket pipes on. I found them too loud for me tastes. The first couple of tanks I got 40+ mpg. I re-installed the oem pipes and I like the sound but have consistently got mid to upper 30s mpg.

I'm going to repack the aftermarket mufflers and see if I get a happy medium.

I think my mpg goes down with the RK. Probably because I have a tendancy to wick the throttle more. Mid 30's or so with oem and lower 30's with RKs. But not enough to be a definate yea or nea one way or another.

I find my RK's perform better after they're polished.

gut the road king pipes, install 2in (diameter) 12 in (length) baffles combined with KnN air filters, you will see a change in performance. At least I have on my tour deluxe.
