Great White Posted June 2, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 2, 2015 Raining today and went out to check the backyard pool as the filter was making odd noises. Slipped on the steps and rocketed to the bottom. Wrenched my bad bad an hammered my elbow. Bu tI think I whacked my head in there somewhere. I'm a little fuzzy, low grade headache and my eyes don't seem to be tracking well when I turn my head (kind of a ghost image). I also found myself trying to do things twice in the kitchen making breakfast. Funny thing is, back of my head doesn't feel like it would had I whacked it. i can push and prod all over the back and no pain. Haven't decided if I'm going to MIR or not (base hospital, I'm military). I may because I'm a flyer and can't be operating aircraft if your noodle isn't all there. Just don't know if I should go get looked at or not. Wife is of a differnt opion: she's on her way home right now. I may not get a choice....lol! GAWildKat Posted June 2, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 2, 2015 Go to the hospital, you can whack the brain just from a sudden stop and cause the symptoms you describe. Not much they can do other than monitor you for changes but best to have it documented.
Flyinfool Posted June 2, 2015 Share #3 Posted June 2, 2015 My dad went down some steps and jarred his brain. He had blured vision and dizzy and there was a small bleed in the brain that DID become life threatening. It took 2 years to get back to being able to drive a car let alone fly a plane. Call your wife and tell her not to come home but to meet you at the hospital. You are describing the symptoms of brain trauma. With the brain it is better to be safe than sorry. Depending on what you fly, where, and when, this infantryman may find himself riding behind you. Yes, please get checked. For yourself most of all, but for the rest of us too. GAWildKat Posted June 2, 2015 Share #12 Posted June 2, 2015 Watch that concussion, my husband had one in 09 from a car accident, never hit his head, just the jarring of ths brain Flyingfool described, he lost some long term memory and has trouble with short term memory. He woke up 3days after after the wreck not knowing me or any of his friends, barely remembered his parents, its scary stuff.
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted June 2, 2015 Share #13 Posted June 2, 2015 Follow doctors orders and you will get better.... screw around and you can be grounded for life. Concussion is an other word for Brain Injury Please if you feel like reading go to http://biac-aclc.ca/ There is no such thing as a minor concussion sorry but it is all too close to my heart
