Trying to install new Pilot screw sets, any tricks to getting the rubber "O" Ring out

I am trying to install new Pilot Screw Sets in all 4 Carburetors on my '87, I destroyed my original Carbs trying to get them out, but I got a new to me Carb set off a '86 and the screws came out nice and smooth. The rubber O Ring's naturally stayed put way down where I see no easy way to get to them I, of course will shoot all kinds of compressed air in there that will probably dislodge it and send it to god knows where without me seeing a thing so I'm worried that I won't know if an O-Ring is in there or not. So is there any way to verify they're actually out of there and not clinging on for dear life in there so I don't end up having a new O-Ring sitting on top of an old O-Ring?

Usually a shot of carb spray into the pilot screw well will blow the O-ring and washer out. Hold a rag loosely over the hole to catch the flying parts. Alternately a dental pick can be used to hook the washer and O-ring.

I used a piece of guitar string and made a hook out of the end. Also helps if you have a lot of light and (especially in my case) a magnifying glass.

Thanks for the response I blew carb cleaner and compressed air in them and I'm pretty sure I got everything out and I did need a bright light and magnifying glasses. Things looked clean and the new Pilot screws have gone in good so far, 2 down 2 to go, I think I might get lucky
