SilvrT Posted May 24, 2015 #1 Posted May 24, 2015 I read somewhere the 1999 Valks had some sort of issue that was rectified with the 2000/2001 model. Anyone know what that was? Other than that, anything specific to look for when buying a Valk Interstate? Appreciate the feedback.
cowpuc Posted May 24, 2015 #3 Posted May 24, 2015 Ask if the timing belts have recently been changed = interference motor!! If pipes/air box have been altered or swapped out ask who did the work and whether or not the scoot was retuned after modding. If no affirmative answer with evidence to support that jetting has been done, pull a plug or two and see how white the plug is.. Honda has a tendency to run that factory bikes right on the border of being lean - its REAL easy for an unknowing person to do some bolt on modding and get over the lean barrier and do exhaust valve damage or worse. Easy to check intakes and hoses for age cracking - dont forget your talking x6 when adding parts up.. Check side cover tabs for repair areas.. Check joint where drive shaft cover attaches to pumpkin for leakage..
