When stopping and slow speed the front feels like it wants to turn on its own,not stay straight. Is this my imagination or do I have a problem?

Steering head bearings are loose. Also...an older front tire will also aggravate the problem. (Worn down in center)

BUT, remember it is a heavy bike and most of that weight "Feels" like it's really high up. So a high center of gravity makes it feel like it's not going to go straight. If everything is good...then it's your technique...and nothing more than practice and you will get it all together!

Check for my posts under the 2nd Gen forum...I've had my 05 for a month now and was fighting same issue. Found some of the problem went away when I tightened the front end bearings by 1/4 turn. Rest went away with a new tire.

Also while you're there check those front wheel bearings, you can get sealed ones from Balls Are Best on Ebay. Comes with new seals too. The listing may be for another year I called and asked for MY year and no luck so I checked the P/N of the year (listing) they offered against the P/N I needed on my bike and they were the same...

Might be a little of both.

Some of it is getting used to the geometry of the bike and it handling.

Some might be the things mentioned above.

A @Condor brace also helps a lot with the handling.

In addition to all the good suggestions above, consider how you are braking; do you use both brake levers? The "rear" brake pedal and the front handlebar lever? Or do you use just one as you slow and stop? It seems inconsequential, but applying the brake to one disc or the other can "pull" the front wheel in the direction of the applied brake disc. Most of the time, it is not a factor, but at walking speed and below it can have some effect.
